Deployment Timing
What is considered a good deployment time?
From hands at chest height to draw and locked, I hit a consistent 2.32 seconds with a pocket clip, and 2.52 seconds with pocket carry - no clip.

Re: Deployment Timing
Just one knife? All serious knife fighters draw two knives at once.

You want to see how fast I can draw?

How can it be faster with no clip?

Re: Deployment Timing
Depends on how impatient or unwilling the matter to be separated is, I guess.
Honestly it's not been a metric of concern. I'm more hung up on how reliably, easily and safely I can get a knife ready to cut and then back in pocket/stand by position with one hand. This includes freezing cold finger, wet fingers, goo covered slippery finger, sweaty fingers, gloved fingers or any combination thereof.

Re: Deployment Timing
I’m not sure what the exact deployment time needed is but if it’s for SD then it better be faster than somebody can pull a trigger.
Do right always. It will give you satisfaction in life.

Re: Deployment Timing
If you think that you are going somewhere where you will need to draw a knife, take a small fixed blade after you practice drawing it. A decent Spyderco for this would be the Enuff 2.
Guro Ray Dionaldo of FCS has videos for the rapid deployment of knives on his website that you can purchase.

These are not the videos that I was looking for but it is Guro Ray Dionaldo:

Last Updated on July 9, 2023
https://usdictionary.com/
The phrase "bring a knife to a gunfight" means you're not ready enough for a tough situation or face-off. People often use this idiom to highlight when someone or a group doesn't have what it takes to deal with big challenges or tough rivals.
In short:
"Bring a knife to a gunfight" means you're at a huge disadvantage in a tough situation because you're not prepared or don't have enough resources.
What Does "Bring a Knife to a Gunfight" Mean?
Imagine being in a conflict where you have a knife, but the other person has a gun - that's the idea behind the idiom "bring a knife to a gunfight." It shows an uneven battle where you're at a disadvantage because you're not prepared. It's like joining a cooking contest with a dull knife! This phrase is a useful way to tell someone they're not ready or to point out when someone enters a situation they can't handle.

Re: Deployment Timing
That video above shows how quickly a seemingly innocuous situation can go sideways.

Re: Deployment Timing
If we're talking about deployment speed for 'tactical' purposes, I would imagine the real key would be the ability to deploy it quickly, stealthily, and well-coordinated, from a variety of positions, while under pressure of an attack, or an impending attack. Which is very different from doing it while alone, relaxed, and not under any pressure and the effects of adrenaline.

If you're going into a sketchy situation, you always want to wear good shoes.
Re: Deployment Timing
This isn't really the best forum for this discussion though. Most people here tend to be more about edcing, collecting, modding, sharpening. For me personally, I never really think of the knife I'm carrying as a weapon or thinking about using it as such. It's a tool too me.

Re: Deployment Timing
Got it, misread.
It does seem like there should be more difference though.
