Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
There was some traffic on another thread of interest of the Dyad Jr. coming in the future so thought rather than clutter it I would create a thread dedicated to the Dyad Jr. I am looking forward for this release it will be a handy knife for small tasks and have always liked the versatility of two blades . Have had a few over the years and my last one gifted to a Forum member . This one will be a keeper . MG2

Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
Very soon … I was at the SFO a little after the Chief Crucarta was released. There was a dyad jr on display that you could handle but not purchase … word at that time is they were being shipped, when received would then go through QC/QA, and then would start shipping to dealers.
I am interested in one, but I’m not very good with being “Johnny on the spot” with computer purchases.
Too bad it isn’t Spyderco standard offering.

Yeah, I wish it was regular production, also. Black FRN and VG-10 or BD1-N would be fine by me.

2nd that!
I do hope it becomes a reg. production model.
Like the “older” volcano grip FRN too. Classic grips for a classic knife

Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
I’ve just put one on pre-order with the UK importer. The Spy27 is also an appealing factor.
It’s quite lightweight. Are there liners / partial liners, does anyone know?

Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
The FRN originals were unlined. I suppose they could have reworked the molds to add liners, but I doubt they would go to that expense.ChrisinHove wrote: ↑Sun Sep 28, 2025 2:13 pmI’ve just put one on pre-order with the UK importer. The Spy27 is also an appealing factor.

Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
I was just thinking, is this the first SPY27 knife in SE?

As far as I know yes.

Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
I think the full size dyad with some slight modifications to blade shape could make a really good mule team folder.

Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
As long as they go back to the original linerless Micarta handle design. The G-10+liner sprint run they put out a while back was too thick and heavy for practical carry.
Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
I have one of the last gray G10 Dyad sprints, and it's a pocket brick for sure and that's coming from someone that prefers thicker handles. I also have a FRN Jr and a Micarta Jr, they're awesome "loose pocket" knives. These knives are great for putting in a backpack or laptop bag, something you may not use everyday but it makes an awesome backup knife for basic cutting needs. You may not do camp food prep with it but it's great for opening boxes and simple routine tasks.

Re: Dyad Jr. SPY27 Release
I have both the Micarta and the Gray G10 Dyads and prefer the original .I think there was some talk sometime ago of a possible Salt Dyad . If Spyderco was make one hopefully the PE blade would be changed for harder use . I agree Dave the Gray is a bit of a brick in pocket . The first Spyderco I ever handled was a Micarta C39 , love the workmanship but prefer the FRN for limited use . I’m on the “Notify me when available” list for this one, but I’m not sure how that process works. Will I be notified by email? Or would I have to be online on the Forum to get notified?
I don’t want to miss this one.
