My Tinker finally bit the dust so I decided to upgrade and get a pioneer model. Have enjoyed it so far but noticed the tip is kind of rounded off. Any ideas how to fix that? Will it eventually sharpen back to a point?

Victorinox Executive. Discontinued & last unit left at the local Victorinox dealer’s shop.

Wow! I didn’t know that this was discontinued! I have one that I found in my Dad’s stuff after he died. I like it, especially the little file!

I’ve carried SAK’s since I was in high school and realized that a $2 knife from Pakistan wasn’t worth it at all. This Tinker is the one I carry the most.

Yes, it’s a useful little SAK. Apparently Victorinox discontinued their entire 74mm line a couple of years ago.

Victorinox Pocket Pal. I got this back in the early 2000s. It was the only knife I carried in the backcountry when I was into “ultra light” backpacking!

Here’s one I got years ago as a promo when I ordered from Crosscut Saw Company. Same size as the Pocket Pal, but only one blade and an inlaid shield instead of painted on.

Ha! Great idea! I like the alcohol stove, too. I’ve been using one for about 28 years, but they have fallen out of fashion recently. I’ll never give mine up!

Looks interesting, especially the pocket clip but I’d rather not have a liner lock on it. Price is kind of high though

Survival Knives:
As you know I get into some neat and sweet conversations with various people. I spoke with a self proclaimed Universal Survival Expert on the internet and I asked him his expert opinion on knives for survival.

He told me all he needs is a lock blade Swiss Army Knife and an Opinel folder, and with those he can create all the tools and furnishings he needs to survive and live comfortably in the wilderness and any environment.

Is he right or not?

I asked him about Spyderco and he said Spyderco is top of the line and would be like icing on the cake with his SAK's.

He claimed with those he can make a shelter that is impervious to any weather, even hurricanes and tornadoes, and even to earthquakes, and impervious to any non human animal, even wolverines and polar bears.

To anyone who has the Spartan with the wood scales, are they slick feeling? That’s my one issue with the alox models, they don’t feel secure like the plastic.
