Obviously, the question is more complicated than it might appear and the solution is more elusive.

The time from making the decision on a material to delivering the product is too long for any of the 2nd batch suggestions. Trying to take orders and deposits and record keeping adds a burden of labor that I believe will add considerable cost to the project.

Since the next3 Mule Teams are already in progress, the quantities are fixed.

I'd like to thank all of you for the time, thought and suggestions. It is truly appreciated. They have given me a lot to think about. At tis time, We will assume that the MagnaXXX pieces were not typical and we will slowly increase the numbers of Mules moving forward.

We've added a "standard" version which will be generally available. We've added serrated versions to the project. I'm guessing that the Mule Team project will continue to evolve as we move forward.

Does that mean no community polls for upcoming Mules beyond the 3 that are already in production?

I appreciate the opportunity to purchase these test mules, and have my input heard. Explaining to us the VOP- voice of the process is uncommon in many industries. The transparency, integrity, and the courage to pave new trails are what make spyderco 1 of a kind.

I really appreciate Sal's willingness to actively engage with his user/customer/collector community
I really appreciate the serrated mule(s)!!!

I posted previously that I just wasn't interested in the 19c27 mule, but at the time, I didn't realize that there was going to be a serrated version. I am definitely interested in the SE one. I'd prefer to be able to get two.

This is a good project for a Demand Planner or Mfg. Engineer. Data and forecasts could be managed on a spreadsheet (I've worked for Billion dollar companies where we've managed forecasts in spreadsheets). There may have to be some assumptions made given the long lead times and it might not be perfect, but it can evolve over time. Learnings can probably streamline and benefit other aspects of the business as well. Hopefully someone on staff will get excited about a project like this!
