That's a risk I'm willing to take.
Spyderco's are some of the most customizable blades on the planet. They beg to be upgraded and quote un-quote "pimped out".
(Are quotation marks redundant?)
I submit to you that a majority of Uncle Sal's customers purchase their blades full well knowing we are going to break the warranty. Before my blade even arrives I've already ordered aftermarket scales, a deep carry clip and titanium hardware. And I have my ferric chloride ready to etch a crazy design or pattern on the blade. This is not a reflection on the quality or design of the blade. It's just that I know I'm the type of person that if someone says to me.. Oh yeah, I have one just like that.. my response is always going to be.. "No, you don't".
I propose that Spyderco offer an extended warranty.. kind of like Car Shield. Where for a nominal fee if we should happen to strip out a screw while swapping scales or maybe damage of phosphorus washer while replacing the pivot, we can still send it in to be "fixed".
Just a thought.
