Never met a warranty I didn't break

So if you're like me, you like your blade to be unique. A little touch here and there that make it stand out from the rest. Unfortunately once you crack a spidey open you void the warranty.
That's a risk I'm willing to take.
Spyderco's are some of the most customizable blades on the planet. They beg to be upgraded and quote un-quote "pimped out".
(Are quotation marks redundant?)
I submit to you that a majority of Uncle Sal's customers purchase their blades full well knowing we are going to break the warranty. Before my blade even arrives I've already ordered aftermarket scales, a deep carry clip and titanium hardware. And I have my ferric chloride ready to etch a crazy design or pattern on the blade.

This is not a reflection on the quality or design of the blade. It's just that I know I'm the type of person that if someone says to me.. Oh yeah, I have one just like that.. my response is always going to be.. "No, you don't".
I propose that Spyderco offer an extended warranty.. kind of like Car Shield. Where for a nominal fee if we should happen to strip out a screw while swapping scales or maybe damage of phosphorus washer while replacing the pivot, we can still send it in to be "fixed".
Just a thought.

Disassembly does not automatically void your warranty. Damage you cause by doing so is not covered by that warranty. You can still send it in for repairs, but expect to pay for them. Or get your knife back unrepaired if the parts you messed up are not available.

P S. I seriously doubt that you are in the majority. My guess is 85% of the knives Spyderco sells are used just the way they came from the factory.

Does dyeing the knife scales void the warranty?

I am not a part of the majority I guess. I like my Spydies as is from the manufacturer.
With that said. I will state this.
If you paid for it. You can modify and customize as you well please.
I can see the appeal to some. And that's their thing.
Just not mine.

Nope. Neither does thinning out edges (even if you turn a saber grind into a flat grind along the way).

The only changes I've ever made to any of my Spyderco knives has been occasionally changing clip positions; occasionally, very slightly bending an overly tight or overly loose clip; loctiting and tightening down loosened screws; and resharpenings. I've personally never changed the scales, ordered any special deep carry clips, performed disassemblies, etc., for any of my knives.

But everybody enjoys their knives in their own ways. It's all good. It's wonderful that those options are available for those who like to tinker or modify their knives.

Dear Mr Yoblanowitz.
Please forgive my insolence. Far be it from me to assume to speak for anyone else but myself. Of course you are correct when you say that the majority of sheeple respect the sanctity of the warranty.
I merely fell victim to the devilish influence of the abominable customizing industry. Websites like Flytanium, MXG gear, Lynch Northest, AWT, RC Bladeworks, Rockscale Designs, and worst of all.. 5x5 Combat Solutions lure me in with their Knife Porn..
I am weak Mr. Yablownyorwitz. I need help.. next thing you know I'll be drilling big *** holes in blades and calling it an opening system instead of using the mother loving thumbstuds as the Lord inttended!!
Pray for me Mr. Yathrownafitz.. for I have sinned.

I barely own a knife I haven't taken apart. Eventually they all get dirtier than rinsing out will suffice, and especially with new models I have to see how they're made, it's just part of the enjoyment for me.
