Thanks, kids. I didn't look at EVERY ONE of the nearly 2000 posts in this thread, but I just looked at enough of them to get some good ideas.

Working on a crosscut micarta handle for an AEB-L :) We're all on the same vibe apparently !

It's gonna use steel corbys and I am gonna do another coke bottle fully contoured handle. We'll see if we polish it or not, at 80 grit this makes for a splendid finish !

Image

I wish my own AEB-L Mule finally arrives by the way, it's been stuck in french customs for 10 days and Fedex is telling me to just wait. Imma wait patiently :yawn
:respect In the collection :respect : Lots of different steels, in lots of different (and same) Spydercos.

Robin. Finally made an IG : ramo_knives

Got started on the REX T15 Mule today. I ground down the nub and thinned down some box elder scales that remind me of Starry Night. I chose to use hidden pins to preserve the look of the wood. It's all glued up and will be ready for further shaping.

Ahah thanks man, these might be the last ones for a while, so many projects in queue it's starting to become crazy :zany

About these kind of clamps. I've been looking for affordable ones for a while, but best i can find is 60€ for the smallest twist kant clamp lol. One day i'll be rich enough to buy 3 or 4 of them without thinking !

Thanks. These Saxon Kant-Twist clamps belonged to my grandfather, and are older than I am. These don't have the patent number (issued 1955) or the patent applied for (1952) markings, so they're probably from about 1951 when Saxon was first getting started. The company was located in El Monte, a few miles from here, so it stands to reason that their early products would be found in this area.

James Webb meets Vincent Van Gogh

#1956

Post by RustyIron »

This REX T15 Mule has been sitting in my desk drawer since they dropped. Recently when I spotted these chunks of wood, they made me think what it would look like if Vincent Van Gogh painted images from the James Webb Space Telescope. I had to have them. This is the nicest Mule that I've made to date--not as nice as some of you guys, but I'm using you for inspiration.

I’m having intrusive thoughts about making a pony mule. The fat end would fit inside the palm, maximize handle length by deleting the nub guard and softening the thumb ramp. Should I let my intrusive thoughts win? Leave well enough alone? 🤪

Those scales are some really great looking burl...

Fireman,

It's your Mule man, so you can do what makes it work for you. If was mine, I want all the grip and the thumb and finger choils I can get.
