You’ve been around a while and I respect your posts. This is great advice in theory but where I live, if the police are already searching you, even when innocent of wrongdoing, then requesting an officer’s supervisor would do absolutely nothing but dig you an already deeper hole and likely get you beaten up. I realize that it may be different in the UK but from the posts that I am reading I don’t think so.vanka wrote: ↑Thu Sep 04, 2025 12:54 pmIt is completely legal by the word of the law. Some police officers might give you hard time, but you can explain to them in a calm manner that according to law it is completely legal and you want to speak with their superior. Whatever the conversation might be it's very important for you to be really calm and respectful. Because it will help you to challenge in the court. Hope that helps.
Is the UKPK is actually legal in the UK?

It really depends. Mostly on your attitude. As long as you remain calm and polite, you can talk to the police officer for an hour. Yes they can confiscate it because it is in fact a knife, they'll give you all the paperwork and then you can challenge it in the court room. And most likely you'll get it back. It depends on so many things that is hard to list them all here.

The police I know are rough and ready and once they've decided you'r getting arrested that's it, you're going to the custody suite regardless of what is or isn't within the law. Upon where the custody sergeant will decide whether or not to charge you. And sometimes they don't agree with the arresting officer and then release you. Your stuff will be retuned to you, including the knife if it's legal and if its not, you get the pleasure of a small cell, a rubber mattress, and led lighting that'll either make you go blind, insane, or both. Dinner is a microwave special, and if you don't kick up too much of a fuss, you can ask for a magazine, previously read by other prisoners, so if there's a nice looking lady on the cover, under no circumstances try and open it, it'll only add to your miseryvanka wrote: ↑Fri Sep 05, 2025 6:51 amIt really depends. All those potentials for what amounts to a penknife

Oh, and if released without charge, don't expect a lift back to where you got arrested. You'll be in an Uber

I know how the UK police would react when asking for a supervisor. Like this ...vanka wrote: ↑Fri Sep 05, 2025 6:51 amIt really depends. Mostly on your attitude. Regardless of whether the police are right or wrong, behaving in a self-righteous, argumentative (or worse, combative) manner towards cops will never end well, even if you are technically in the right.

(i) a plain cutting edge;
(ii) a sharp pointed end; and
(iii) a blade of over eight inches in length (the length of the blade being the straight-line distance from the top of the handle to the tip of the blade),
which also has one or more of the following features:
(a) a serrated cutting edge (other than a serrated cutting edge of up to two inches next to the handle);
(b) more than one hole in the blade;
(c) spikes;
(d) more than two sharp points in the blade other than:
(1) a sharp point where the angle between the edges which create the point is an angle of at least 90 degrees (where there is a curved edge, the angle will be measured by reference to the tangent of the curve);
(2) a sharp point on the cutting edge of the blade near the handle.
