We've tried for a forum knife many, many times. The last time the close consensus was for a UKPK so those in restricted areas could participate. I am out of suggestions as there is no one knife that will meet all wants.
When looking at the Birdseye Maple Chaparral on the Spyderco site, there are both a backlock version (C152WDP) and a Slipit version (C152NLWDP). Why could a forum knife not also have both versions to cover both markets?
There is cost involved and interruption of production lines. I doubt they'd go for both. I had forgotten about the Chaparral Slipit. That would be a great choice with Magnacut or with some different material for the scales.

I understand and agree about the cost involved along with the interruption to normal production. I also understand the need for some to have a non-locking version and a desire for others (including myself) to have a locking version. Those were some of the reasons for mentioning the Chap. Both variations already exist. If there were a different length restricted model with both locking and non-locking variations, perhaps it may be an option. Going with the Chap option, I would further suggest a Chap SE with special forum scales and etching as an option for the knife of this thread. It may be one of the least interruptive options from a production standpoint. I would like a MagnaCut (or MagnaMax) steel, but wonder if that would push the price too high for some members.

I’ve always wanted a Chap but it always gets pushed back by other knives when it comes time to order a knife.

Well we showed some interest in a forum knife so now I guess it’s really up to Spyderco if we get one, when we get one and what it will be. Thanks to all of you that showed an interest.
