Oldest/Most Worn Pocket Knife
Oldest/Most Worn Pocket Knife
I thought it would be interesting to see your oldest / most worn Spyderco's here.
I know these knifes are built to last but there is something about a well worn/used knife that is very satisfying.
I have only been into knives the past few years and I have quite a few so mine don't get worn a lot but my most worn is probably my K390 SE Delica which I primarily use for yard work.

I also have several knives so wear and tear don't show up readily.
My most worn one is this Manix 2 that I got from a friend in this condition.

My Endura that looks like Delica blade and Endura FRN Scales.
Reground blade to a 7 inch radius, almost flat and higher grind lines to the spine.
Pics later, but I have shown them here years ago.

Re: Oldest/Most Worn Pocket Knife
That would be the original Para Military in CPM D2 that was gifted to me a while ago. Took it completely apart, cleaned everything, reassembled the knife and it's almost like a new one again.

Re: Oldest/Most Worn Pocket Knife
Probably my green Delica FFG. It has lots of life remaining after over a decade of use. Like a lot of you, I have so many knives that the wear gets spread around.
Re: Oldest/Most Worn Pocket Knife
I've always liked that picture for showing the difference from sharpening over the years. Gonna steal your idea with some of mine....yablanowitz wrote: ↑Sun Aug 03, 2025 8:33 pmMy S90V Military user on the bottom with its backup on the top.

Some of my oldest users are from other brands, like my first Leatherman Micra, Scrapyard Dogfather, etc.
This post has me in the mood to carry an Aqua Salt. Don't normally carry them day to day but I think I'll strap a blacked out one to my belt tomorrow.

Maybe my s110v Millie and Maxamet PM2, now they have nice aftermarket scales, but the blades are reprofiled and sharpened a lot. Also my SE Native Salt in LC200N, the FRN is tough and when cleaned still look great, but the scallops were bent and re-straightened and sharpened many times already.

Re: Oldest/Most Worn Pocket Knife
These three got some miles on them, but they're not worn out yet...

1. PM2 CTS-20CP - It came thick behind the edge from the factory. This was my first Edge Pro reprofiling job... S90V-equivalent steel on waterstones....
Not the worst edge in the world, but I hated the looks, and it was still thick.

Soon after I went for broke and convexed it free hand. This was my first attempt at a convex. I loved how thin it was and how well it cut. I also "fixed" the hideous (IMO) grey scales, and swapped to black G10.

Many years later it got a V-edge again, and a new black clip.

2. PM2 M390 - After the success of the 20CP convex, many others got the same treatment... The Smurf blue G10 scales recently got swapped for paper micarta scales, because I dented the butt badly when I dropped it on concrete.

3. Stretch Superblue - super thin convex, but I never chipped it. Monster cutter...

Probably my GB1. It was my primary folder for a long time before I joined the forum and we learned a lot from each other lol. Not sure why the hate for the CF/G10 laminate from Taichung, it's a user's dream IMO... Grippy texture without feeling like sand-paper-peel-ply and never shows wear. This was also the beginning of a long loving relationship with M4.

Re: Oldest/Most Worn Pocket Knife
agreed. I love it and never got the hate. enjoyed the smooth but textured grip on my szabo folders.abbazaba wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 11:27 amProbably my GB1. Re: Oldest/Most Worn Pocket Knife
Agreed, the CF laminate is great. The texture is very good and it looks absolutely beautiful. I guess full CF scales would be lighter. But with the thick full liners on the GB, the weight savings would be negligible.abbazaba wrote: ↑Mon Aug 04, 2025 11:27 amProbably my GB1. Re: Oldest/Most Worn Pocket Knife
I never had a problem with the laminate. My beef was with the oxymoronic "digital rounding" of the proud liners turning the whole handle into one big hotspot. I gave it away and never looked at another Gayle Bradley design.

I agree. The CF laminate is a winner for me too.

Re: Oldest/Most Worn Pocket Knife
"Oldest" and "most worn" don't really align in my collection, my oldest production knives are among the nicest I have because they're old Micarta models I've collected that I don't really use.
The most I've carried one knife has to be my Autonomy that spent a solid 6 years in my pocket for work. You wouldn't know the crap this knife has seen by looking at it, it really doesn't show it. There's some minor scratches in the DLC and the edges of the G10 are polished smooth and the peel ply isn't very grippy anymore.
It's funny how DLC is typically thought of as showing more wear because it gets scratched off but if this blade was satin H1 it would look like was used to cut through stacks of sandpaper everyday so I'm thinking the DLC has kept it looking nicer than it would've without it.

Re: Oldest/Most Worn Pocket Knife

A Spyderco Lava. When my wife and I had first started dating, this was the first birthday present she bought me. It doesn't see as much use these days, but every now and then it finds its way into my pocket.
