I’m not sure I tricked you guys by telling you how I did that and that anyone can make a red-ribbed PM2 if they want. There was no special trick to dyeing the scales — my standard recipe of half a bottle of RIT dye (scarlet red in this case), 1/2 cup of white vinegar, and 4 cups water brought up and held at a very low boil. I dipped the scales in on hangers made from wire clothes hangers so the scales don’t touch the pan and dyed them for about 20 minutes. After a good long rinse in hot water, the originally yellow ribs were now red (and near spot on to color of the Crucible handles). After that I just swapped my DLC MagnaCut PM2 setup into the scales. As I said, anyone willing to buy both MC PM2 versions and some RIT dye can do the same. Cheers, Radioactive

Any which way it looks great. Plus the black/satin leftover combo I am sure looks good too.

Thanks for the formula. I will definitely try it out on the para 3 when it comes out.
The trick was, there wasn’t any context when you posted it originally and not saying it was dyed. We all got excited that the rest of the population would have a chance at a black/red version.
But maybe Spyderco has some more colors up their sleeves. I could totally see Orange looking like a 🐅 😉.

Mrj,

Your not kidding about the orange and black. I was sure thinking we had something coming from Spyderco lol...

Was pretty dirty and funny too. Good one pulled over me for sure lol. Hook, line and sinker is what you call that.

It's not the red and black colors I like per/say, it's just our school colors here for our college town and the wife and I are big supporters of the school and especially on game days, we go all in.

Heck I got a Police4 with PD #1 black coated steel and red G10 scales and on game days I pack that knife... It just fails in comparison to what Spyderco did for the guys at Crucible, that was way above and beyond what Spyderco did for those people.

Then, just look at the knife, heck it's stunning, don't get me wrong here I like my greens and browns best, but that red and black knife Spyderco did is killer... Only Spyderco would do something so special for those guys, losing their jobs just bad deal. That's really hard...

Honestly 310 for something this hard to find isn't that bad, with the overall price of todays selection of spydies.

I'm pretty confident if someone got this for $310 they could make a profit if they were so inclined.
