Thinking of doing something similar for my son graduating HS next year on a fishing knife (Native 5, Para 3, or Sage 5) salt. Just not sure how to engrave the knife as in what to write.

Me and my wife (it was 100% her idea) got our pastor and engraved Native 5 with a comment he said during a service shortly after returning from a mission trip from China.
Yeah, I’m a knife guy, but I think it’s one of the coolest, most thoughtful gifts you can give someone! It’s a gift that’ll never be forgotten.
