not sure why, but this was one of those purchases that didn't impress me a ton right off the bat, but grew on me as I used it.

It's an insane value. 5160 & micarta, US made, for $45 + $8 shipping at CKW. They have 2nds on clearance.

Aside from my edge being thick and not super sharp, which is the norm with machetes, mine seemed fine.

I'm ordering another before they sell out since these are discontinued and out of stock at most dealers.

the 2.5mm blade with a heavy tip makes it a pretty solid chopper for a machete. Not quite as snappy as a 2mm through lighter growth, but still fairly nimble.

My Spyderco's sees a lot of use and over time they tend do get spread around quite a bit, so a few days back this one was the closest option at hand when looking inside one of my sparsely populated knife drawers.

Mini Bugout with Flytanium CF scales

It did the job so it stuck around in my pocket for a while.
Probably my least carried Benchmade. But that's mostly due to a badly timed purchase and nothing against the knife. I got it around the time I realized I really have a preference for backlocks. It's a nice knife though. Especially for smaller mitts. Silly light and great blade to handle ratio.

Edit:
here's a picture showing the knife a bit better. It's the only other picture I had of it, from when I swapped the scales in July 22. I may not even have used it after that :thinking

The Elementum finally arrived. Fit and finish is typical Civivi. It's a very nice little flipper. Action is smooth and drops shut. The liner lock is rock solid. It's got a very nice high hollow grind, which was a nice surprise (for some reason I just assumed they were flat ground).

The micarta doesn't feel great, kind of plasticky. but its OK. D2 is OK too. All in all, it's a great buy at $30

A Benchmade HK was the first folding knife I bought (together with a small non-locking Böker) after stumbling into the world of folding knives on the internet. Didn't yet know much when I ordered these, but they were available domestically and would provide a starting point.

The HK wasn't bad, as far as I remember, but all blacked out and with assisted opening I quickly realized it wasn't quite as discreet as one would want around people mostly not used to seeing knives in public, in a country with quite ambiguous knife laws.

The model name of both escapes me

I recall that in the late 2000s, the Benchmade HK line featured models both made in USA & China. I only bought 2 USA ones, the HK14255 Tanto & HK14205. Both designed by Mike Snody, with really excellent quality.

I do recall seeing that model you posted, but don’t know the name.

I just ordered a Vosteed Naga, it should be here by wednesday. I'll update once it arrives

I'm a big fan of Vosteed's stuff. Their button actuated compression lock is first-rate (they call it the Top Liner Lock), as are the materials and fit and finish. This will be my 5th Vosteed in my collection

It's got a 3.5" blade of S35VN, button actuated compression lock, micarta scales. I love the design too.

I finally got my Vosteed Naga, and this is one I've been waiting for. Every time I get a new model from Vosteed, I am impressed all over again. They continue to improve on quality, fit and finish, and materials.

The Naga has Vosteed'd version of the button actuated compression lock. The action is flawless and lockup is perfect with extremely tight tolerances and zero play anywhere, The micarta used on this knife is probably the best I've ever seen. It feels so good in hand, and the aqua blue color is unique. The blade is S35VN and it came very sharp out of the box and the primary grind and swedge are perfect and even. The wire clip is fine, but I do wish it came with a clip that looks a little more upscale. The retail on the Naga is $139.

Here's a Native 5 for scale

This is one of those pride of the collection knives. It has unbelievable gravity and amazing production quality-- even more-so for being a small batch factory made knife!

Waynorth is to my mind the premier GEC-made private label brand. Charlie Campagna knows what he is doing.

The all steel construction GECs are some of the best hand-made in the USA traditional knives one can buy. I feel fortunate to have a few, and to have visited the factory to see the production process in person.
