11 years with my ZDP189 Dragonfly 2. Best $65 spent!

:bug-red-white I don't post much but just wanted to share after 11 yrs that this Dragonfly 2 has done majority of the package/box cutting in our household. It has also been a main carry for when I want a locking knife that vanishes in pocket or waist band for shorts.

The ZDP is easy enough to sharpen and shows no rust signs anywhere. Glad to see this old trusty friend is still high on the list of edge retention scores as it cuts everything in its path!

My preferred deployment is slow roll but I also enjoy Spydie drops as it has broken in.

I may add another knife soon. Maybe in Rex 121 or 15v? But at $65 purchased 11 years ago, it will be impossible to get this type of ROI again.

Thank you Spyderco for making sweet cutters. Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend and thank you to those who served and gave the ultimate sacrifice! :usflag

One of favorite dragonfly knives. I wish I had bought more than one.

Looks like you only sharpened 1 time. I hope my k390 I just bought holds up as well. If you are thinking same size consider lil native.

I prob have sharpened three to four times a yr at most. But also maintain weekly on a strop. I am thinking a little longer like 3". Had a delica and para 3 and sold. They cut the same things my dragonfly could for my usage. So maybe a sage or manix 2

The Sage has the best action of all compression locks. I have tried. The Manix 2 is awesome also.

The dragonfly is one of the best designs ever. The ZDP just makes it that much better. And I really love that color.

I keep saying that Sal was visited by gods when he designed the Dragonfly. I own two in ZDP189 and quite a few in VG10 and K390 and yes, you guessed, my favorite is the ZDP189 one. It’s so capable yet small enough to be a dream to carry. I never feel under knifed when I have my ZDP little pal in my fifth pocket.

Awesome knife! Those were a great value. I had one years ago and would happily buy another. One of my favourite Spyderco knives of all time! Glad to see yours is still going strong after 11 years.

The Dragonfly 2 in ZDP-189 was my first Spyderco, and I used it for years as a work folder. Extreme cutting performance & edge longevity in a package that can fit in the fifth pocket of a pair of jeans. One of the best folders Spyderco has produced, IMO. I've migrated to larger work knives as my workplace cutting tasks have changed over the years, but I still have that Dragonfly, and I still use it for all sorts of convenience cutting jobs outside of work.

Very nice! I’m down to two Dragonfly’s, my foliage green G-10, and my ZDP-189. I’ve given away probably 5 or 6 over the years but these two are here to stay!

Yeah, that’s a sweet knife. I think most people can get by with a Dragonfly most of the time. It’s my favorite knife to gift by far.

Still sad I lost that knife.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

BRG FTW

I still keep a DF2 in my glove box ready to gift and have given quite a few over the years.

Mine is about the same vintage as yours. I recently re-skinned it with Flytanium copper scales. It's a heavy little bugger now but I like it a lot. I removed the clip and added a lanyard.

Mine is a similar vintage, and probably my most carried knife. Mine rides clipless.

Love the Dragonfly, especially in ZDP!

Thx all for sharing your own photos and stories. I have owned a long list of knives and have been on a purge. I literally have two blades. This dragonfly and a victorinox climber. I plan to give the df to wife. And use the climber as my Edc tool box.

But I am looking at a few options to expand the garage to replace my Edc.

Lil native back lock 15V (just announced)

I don't mind not having a locking knife. The number of times I hard used a folder is 0.0
