Oh yes the bow river would rock and be an instant buy.

Re: MagnaMax wish list
I agree, a Bodacious. I don't know the sales figures and I'm not necessarily advocating for knowing them, but there has been some speculation on whether the Bodacious has been a good seller or not. If not, then the Bodacious is the perfect vehicle - it has been a bit neglected for steel variation, and a MM Bodacious could be just the thing to jumpstart it and get it in the hands of a lot of people. Also, consider me a part of the 'handle forward' crew. Sure, I like a choil like the next guy, but if Spyderco is known for their edge performance, give me more edge haha!
Frankly, I'm very excited about the Bodacious, and I'm going to try to keep an eye out for one at a possible next Seconds sale. Very kind of Spyderco to drop the price almost $40 on that knife.

Re: MagnaMax wish list
The Canis is an interesting knife. Probably the highest ratio of 'Never held one, eww no way' to 'Oh wow. Held it, incredible' of any knife I've tried so far.
I don't have one yet but that will change. It is my favorite Sypderco that I don't have. People see it's weird looks and pass it by, but what they don't see is that sweet hollow ground wharncliff that is a cutting monster, the superb ergos, the Taichung quality, and the forward weight of the blade that makes closing it a pure pleasure.
I agree with your sentiment. Probably the Bodacious (as I mentioned above) and the Canis get some of the least amount of attention for new blade steels, so it would be fantastic to see a little more support behind these knives. The Bodacious would be a slam dunk, as it has wider appeal, and the Canis, while maybe more niche and 'labor of love-ish', would be none less appreciated, at least by me.
Re: MagnaMax wish list
Hmmm... How about a Hollow Ground Police 4? (LW)
That would get my $$ quick.
u.w.
Re: MagnaMax wish list
FWIW, the McGann Canis is in my top 10 EDC models and my top 5 collaboration keepers.
I’d swoop one up if it comes out in MagnaMax. I’ve added it to my list, above.

Re: MagnaMax wish list
I have the Stretch in K390, I think a Stretch or a Stretch XL in MagnaMax would be great.

Re: MagnaMax wish list
I will buy any knife you make in Larrin's MagnaMax Sal, but I have a love affair with the Military 2 and the Native Chief at the moment.

Re: MagnaMax wish list
Military (with liner lock), Native Chief, and C07S Police would be my choices.

Oooh, the bow river sounds great. Pretty much all the Phil Wilson designs could make the steel sing imo
Re: MagnaMax wish list
I'd love to see Phil Wilson's take on this steel:
-North Fork
-Sprig
-Smoke Jumper

Re: MagnaMax wish list
I’d be down for a Spydiechef in this, or Magnacut. The ‘chef has been another of those ‘only 1 steel so far’ knives.
Re: MagnaMax wish list
PM2 and Manix2 are the first models that come to mind. The Native5 would also be cool

Spyderchef, Endura, Stretch 2, delica, centofante 3. I don’t think it will make it to seki for quite a while though.

Re: MagnaMax wish list
A lot of assumptions here below, but...
assuming that this steel performs really well in some of the initial testing right now...
...and assuming it becomes widely popular, ala Magnacut, such that people will want to seek out this steel en masse...
...and assuming that we could realistically see many knives, across many manufacturers, eventually adopting this steel for many of their models...
...it leaves Spyderco in a unique position and opportunity to elevate a few knives that have never been given the proper attention before. If this steel eventually makes it's way to most knives, there will be a huuuuuge energy with the first properly hardened regular batch to come out, that will eventually wear out as the steel makes it's way across the rest of the industry and becomes more the norm.
So my vote would be that, assuming (there's that word again), we could eventually see this steel pop up all over the Spyderco line (and why not, right?), that Spyderco selects some real oddballs or 'pet projects' for the first few releases of Magnamax (excluding the limited-release of a future Mule Team).
I'm thinking something that doesn't get a lot of attention outside of this forum. The Chaparral. The Lil' Temperance. The Canis. The Leafjumper would have been the perfect platform. Something unique. Something odd. Something easily passed over by many...but not anymore!
It's either that, or make a freakishly insane amount of Delicas or Para 3s in Magnamax and release a tidal wave since it would be a gigantic hit.
Or just ask Larrin which knife he'd like to see it in first, for a production folder, and run w/ it!

Re: MagnaMax wish list
I'm in the camp that for me to try it (and I definitely do want to try it at some point!) it would have to be in a 3"-ish folder, like the Native or the UKPK. I've already got both of those models in S110V so I'm in no real rush... S110V does what I need it to do... but I'd enjoy putting a Native in MagnaMax against a Native in S110V to see which one actually suits my EDC needs better.
I imagine the improved toughness of MagnaMax would make it a better choice, as I do hit screws and such with my usage and have chipped both S90V and S110V from time to time. Just so long as the corrossion resistance and wear resistance are comparable to those two steels, I'm good. Bonus points if it sharpens easier than S110V!
