The Dragonfly 2: still the best pocketknife ever. Pictured is the purple Sprint Run from years back. I have nine more.

I handled a DF2 at the SFO, because I was curious about getting a salt one for a neck knife, and I was assuming I would really like it. I dunno, I came away with the impression that it wasn't for me. The front choil and the rear of the handle help to lock in your hand, but the large upswept curve of the handle with a corresponding sweep on the underside really worked against the ergonomics in my hand. That curve created a void on the underside that my hand wanted filled by something.
Definitely one of those that would be worth trying before buying. And who knows...a lot of us have dismissed knives that are now our favorites. Happened w/ me and the LT3 LW, so I will not write it off, but probably gravitate to other small knives and keep giving the DF2 a chance every now and then to see if my thoughts change.
I'm still a big supporter of the knife, however, it being a platform for another K390 offering.
I have a Dragonfly Salt SE, but I think I'd probably like it better if it were in FFG LC200N, with PE. Or maybe even SE; I much prefer FFG over even a high HG. As it is, my Dragonfly Salt SE is the snaggiest Spyderco I've ever owned.
I just gifted away an orange one yesterday that I’ve had for years to a great guy I go to church with. He had asked me about a small folder he could drop in the bottom of his pocket….I know just the knife!
This is the one model where my opinion and that of the larger Spyderco community differs the most. I prefer a knife handle that fills my hand, which I why I prefer the Janlica to the DFly.
Although I like the Dragonfly design, if I had to pick a "most ideal" model for a small knife for myself, I would choose the Delica.
I would choose a Dragonfly as a primary carry if I needed to carry only a very small knife, where being discreet is a requirement. Otherwise, I would have it as a backup to a main knife.
Pound for pound the Dragonfly is impossible to beat. It is a small knife that acts much bigger and can accomplish almost anything. It’s my favorite ultralight hiking knife. However the thinner blade Chaparral is what I have in my pocket right now for EDC other than the wilderness canyons and deserts. I’ve used small Spydercos since 1987 and they have really hit the mark with the Dragonfly 2. The Chaparral is a medium sized folder and is ultra precision. I’m sure the faction that has a fetish for the gigantic, oversized folders will dispute this but I’d expect no less. I find the Dragonfly in K390 so impressive that I bought two.

While I'm a fan of larger pocket knives, I will concede that the Dragonfly is the best SMALL pocket knife ever invented. Nine? You have indeed drank the Kool Aid. And just like Kool Aid, the Dragonfly is available in a whole rainbow of colors.
It's funny how certain iconic knives don't work for some people. Unfortunately the Dragonfly doesn't work for me. I admire it for packing a lot of punch in a tiny package, and its blade is beautiful, but in my opinion the Chaparral is a better knife in this size category. The Dragonfly is hard for me to open and close with one hand, and its ergos don't mesh with my grip. On top of that, I just like larger knives.
The Dragonfly 2 is the king of the LBK for me. I have many iterations in multiple steels and one in the mail now. It is the perfect pairing for a BFK like vivi likes.

X2
I think it's a quintessentially Spyderco knife design and it's obviously beloved by many. My skinny fingers just can't curl up far enough to get a confidence inspiring grip that's also comfortable. For me the Cat, Lil Native, or Urban fills the DFly void.
