Have any of you caught or eaten tarpon or pompano fish?
Pompano, yes, very good :grin-big eyes

Tarpon, no. Too many tiny bones to be worthwhile :grimace

Made the feather sticks with the mini-Nessmuk (Roadie XL) to pass some time and fidget, in-between casting that little fire-tiger rooster tail.
Though a [small] stocker - it is still my first ever Brown Trout. So in addition to it being an absolutely gorgeous day outside today - I also caught a fish, and a first ever for me. 10 out of 10 banner day for me!

Finished up an annual weekend trip to Arkansas with my fishing buddies. We put the hammer to them all weekend and caught hundreds of trout.

Now I'm a bit jaded and typically don't take pictures of a trout unless they are over the 2ft mark but this one was prettied up nice and just a bit shy of that mark.

Wow, thats a beautiful fish!

I won’t catch anything close to that but I’ve got to get out to some of the local trout ponds. Haven’t been out at all this season but that’s going to change soon. 🎣

Nice catches! Still haven't landed anything in 2025 but I'm getting out on the ice tomorrow. Targeting anything that wants to eat a shiner, so I have my fingers crossed that I don't get skunked. :grin-squint

Thank you.
I hope you catch plenty, and have a great time of it

Those two 'bows I caught were long enough that I had to trim each a little to fit them in my biggest skillet. I was on the phone with a friend (a Very avid fisherman & Spydie fan) while prepping to cook, and cooking. I mentioned to him that my trout were bigger than my pan; and he said that was a good 'problem' to have.
I agree =-]

Went out again this morning, and had a great (Grate) morning of it!
Got some super yummy din-din for the next three nights & am super grateful and happy about it,

The K390 Police 4 LW is what was in my pocket, and has been more or less the only one for six plus months now.
Maybe one day we'll see a FFG LC200N linerless Salt (-:

@u.w. Awesome! You've been hammering those rainbows. It's going to be a while before ice out this year but you're making me want to go try drilling some holes in the local trout ponds. :grin-squint

Yeah man (Nick)! The luck has been with me for sure, and I am surely grateful for it too!

Went out again this morning, and had some luck with the Rainbows again. It was indeed chilly out too!
I was dressed appropriately, so no issues; and I thoroughly enjoyed the many (half day) hours I was outside, and fishing.

Two small trout early, and then easily the Biggest trout I've ever caught. I use a micro size, ultra-light rod/reel/line set up. The big one did pull line off the reel. I set the drag so the 4lb line doesn't break, and it worked as it should've.
I do not have any pans big enough, and I didn't have a ziplock (I only had a 6L ziplock with me) big enough for it either. I did have a trash bag, and that worked the charm.
Also, carrying my 15V Mili2 still.

Enough blabbing,
On to the photos :-)

It's an older picture, but thought I'd post it anyway. Just under 22". Got my Mule Team next to it for scale.

Very nice! It's always a thrill to fight big fish like that on light weight gear.

The ponds are starting to open up here in Massachusetts and trout stocking should be starting any day now! Ice fishing was a bust this year... Hopefully the stockers don't let me down! :cheap-sunglasses
