I like me a bit of orange, my go to colour option given the choice. Not just knives but other hand tools and torches too.

Also as a happy bonus they are often the ones that are marked down for sale over their more popular, more subdued stable mates.

Love me a discounted orange knife.

Just a counter opinion so there isn't an impression that this is what everyone wants.

I would never carry a knife with an orange handle. I dislike all brightly coloured handles but to me orange is the worst of all. Give me black or earth tones every time. Forest green is probably my favourite. This is my natural inclination in general but particularly with knives.

FRN can at least be dyed but an orange G10 handle would be an insurmountable problem to me. My plea to Spyderco is no orange handles unless a knife is also offered in an alternative colour.

How is it hurting you though when knives will comes out with various handle options? I never can understand ppl who will advocate against something that other ppl like but they themselves not.
Hello Thorgal. This is actually what I hoped to convey. I don't mind at all if orange is an option among others, I just think it's a shame when that is the only option for a particular model. I also said this is just a counter opinion and wasn't trying to be negative.

We are lucky that Spyderco actually reads our forum and sometimes makes production decisions based on threads. This is why I think it is wise to have a balance of views presented. Some people love bright colours but others do not.

Weird take but I like orange lives but not the part sticking out of my pocket- meaning if the top 1/3 or 1/4 of the handle was black, brown, or gray I would like it a heck of a lot more

well on that note it would be nice if clips would designed in such a way that none sticks out in the 1st place. Knives partially sticking out are pretty annoying at times.

I sometimes regret gifting my S90v orange Native 5 to a buddy. Bright orange knives rock. I like the orange on my hap40 knives, as well.

This could be a solution indeed for "bright handle sticks out of the pocket" for those who absolutely don´t like that...

... but otherwise bring the disadvantages of deep carry with it (knife effectively a larger/longer carry in pocket than it would be with a "regular" clip; a bit less convenient to retrieve; finger further away from the opening hole when the knife gets drawn out of the pocket...)

I personally find it one of the best features in Spyderco knives that they rarely get deep carry clips, but instead that great "normal" carry spoon (or wire) clips and I hope they´ll never change that!

Of course ymmv and I fully respect that :clinking-mugs
Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

Having dropped things in the woods myself, I know how important visibility is and the bright color can help. My daughter and her friends spend a lot of time hiking so I got her the satin VG-10 version of the DF2 with orange scales like the one in this pic when she was doing her residency. The scales matched one of the colors of the university medical school where she was doing it, so I added a little lanyard in the contrasting color as a pinky extension and had the blade engraved with her name and "M.D." I don't think she uses it much but she says she always takes it with her.

there was a user that used to dye the ends of his salts, I'm guessing for similar reasons...

I have considered Rit dyeing the above-pocket-part of some of my brightly colored knives, but it doesn't bother me so much that I've gotten around to it.
Anyhow, splash of black Rit dye on the part sticking out should be a quick and easy fix.

The state of my orange handled knives in October 2021 presented in a expertly flawed photo where I managed to miss focus when taking it AND get color accuracy wrong in PP. Despite what it may look like all handles are in some shade of orange, from poo orange to blazing bright

I thought for sure when they announced Magnacut was going into the Salt line, they would make the handles orange to make it different from the H2 and LC200N, but no they went with Yellow again. I like yellow but orange is a great color.

I too wished they made the Magnacut knives out of a color other than yellow. I picked up a MC Chief and couldn’t stand the yellow handle after a couple of days so had to get another Chief to switch the scales.

Yellow would be great if I was at the beach or on a boat but for everyday carry I wish they made another option in a more subdued color like the s110v blue, forest green, etc.

Yea me too. I bought some black FRN takeoffs from someone for my new Sage Salt so it’s less noticeable for around town carry.

honestly though for those that suggest to modify a knife. If i pay a lot of euros for a knife i dont want to pay additional costs to get it to my like. For fixed blades i will contact a yellow hawk customs to get a high quality kydex sheath but thats about it. In general i dont like leather sheaths as they dont hold a knife as well as kydyx does. Also the oils from the leather can have a negative impact on the blade sometimes.
