Stretch 2 xl In K390 At Last!
Re: Stretch 2 xl In K390 At Last!
Just ordered, big thank you for this model in K390 and at a fair price. K390 always makes me smile.

Wow, 3.46" (88mm) of cutting edge for only 2.6oz (75g) is truly lightweight -- an even better ratio than my Pacific 2 H2. Of course I wish it came with serrated edge, but still, I'd be curious to see this one.
Re: Stretch 2 xl In K390 At Last!
Mine is in the mail! Very much looking foward to this one. May become the alpha of my K390 collection or at least the top.
Stretch 2 and Delica seem to be getting most carry out of the bunch at this point, but have been carrying the Strech 2 XL in PD1 a lot since purchasing and very impressed with the design (Thanks Sal!) Large cutter in very light and carry friendly package.

You gotta hold one, it's shocking how light it feels for such large blade.KeepCalm&Carrion wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 4:45 amWow, 3.46" (88mm) of cutting edge for only 2.6oz (75g) is truly lightweight -- an even better ratio than my Pacific 2 H2. I want to try one but can't decide between the XL lightweight and the regular one with liners.....curious why no liners on the xl??
Re: Stretch 2 xl In K390 At Last!
Reduced weight and ability to share FRN molds with the salt version.Cowboyfromhell wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 6:46 pmI want to try one but can't decide between the XL lightweight and the regular one with liners.....curious why no liners on the xl??

May be easier to get the XL as they should be abundant for a bit at least. It seems most of the stretch 2s are out of stock. Admittedly I have not searched too hard, just an observation when scrolling through some sites.

What one gets for the weight is actually amazing indeed (going by my VG10 SE version).spydergoat wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 2:07 pmYou gotta hold one, it's shocking how light it feels for such large blade.
Pretty much what the Pac Salt ffg offers (which is lighter than the sabre hollow H2) - slightly lighter, but also has a tad less edge than the Stretch XL
Really cool where Spyderco stands with their lightweight approach. As solidly built as almost all folder tasks will ever require, but still great ergos and true "full size", also concerning the blade.
Top three going by pocket-time (update October 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endela SE (VG10), Manix 2 LW (REX45)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1)
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endela SE (VG10), Manix 2 LW (REX45)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1)

I think the Stretch XL is without liners because they planned a Stretch XL Salt version . I have three XL variants and the K390 Stretch 2 . Really depends on hand size and how you like the feel in hand . Stretch 2 weighs more and has a nice solid feel in hand but there may be XL has more blade and I don’t notice at all in pocket . If possible I would check out both at a shop or show . Both are great knives . The XL LW is on my short wish list of must haves. K390 would check off another box, but it has to be SE for me.

Yes ! I have made same comments and hope there will be one in the future . If not I will go with the Salt XL in SE and have both varieties . Definitely need to expand SE but want them in models that are in my happy place . Dan

Great minds, as they say...
Re: Stretch 2 xl In K390 At Last!
Have we heard whether or not SE is in the works for this one?
I can’t believe how much knife I carry here for less than the weight of my Para 3 LW which is already unnoticeable in pocket. Truly extraordinary.

This knife in SE would truly be a force to reckon with. I still am surprised just how well the SE K390 Endura cuts every time I use it. We need more SE knives, especially in K390.

The Stretch 2 XL is a much more slender design. Overall, if feels more refined, to me.Cowboyfromhell wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 6:46 pmI want to try one but can't decide between the XL lightweight and the regular one with liners.....curious why no liners on the xl??
Lighter, too. Most of the “xl” is in the blade, as the handle is very similar in length to the regular Stretch 2.
I do love the sturdier feel of the regular Stretch 2, also. It appears to be a tad smoother, although the XL is also plenty smooth.
If you’re torn between the two, do what I did and grt both..! (=
Re: Stretch 2 xl In K390 At Last!
I've been carrying this for the last week or so and have been really blown away by the refined nature of the design. It's my first Stretch, but the design and ergonomics feel extremely natural, like there was nothing for me to get used to.
If you're comfortable with choils and comfortable with FRN handles, I feel like it seamlessly combines those into a knife that has exactly what you need and nothing extra, if that makes sense.
K390 is my favorite steel, and I've also wanted a linerless model in this steel for ages to mitigate some of the internal corrosion issues I've experienced with my linered K390 knives.
Overall, I'm still in the "honeymoon" phase with this one but it feels like pretty much exactly what I'd hope for in a folder.

Re: Stretch 2 xl In K390 At Last!
I had not even processed this fact - that I won't have to dissasemble and clean and Eezox those liners to abate internal corrosion. Great point about a great knife! Truly a lightweight star for those who like a backlock and tool steel knife.
Re: Stretch 2 xl In K390 At Last!
Pretty nice knife, it is very light weight and you can’t go wrong with 390 if you don’t mind patinas.
