Not so much the cold, but we are getting absolutely blasted with snow the past few days. Had around 4" on the ground on Friday. Got around 8-10" Saturday, another 8-10" last night with another 6-8" expected today and tonight. I've been around snow my entire life and this is the most in a short period of time that I can remember. Definitely the most we've had at this house, which has been 12 years now.

Dear lord Rick! I am assuming you stay home a bit until the roads are plowed, but with that much snow I would think it would take a while.

We are getting the rain portions of these storms. Creeks and rivers around here are struggling to stay within the banks.

It's so cold that the politicians have their hands in their own pockets.

I was supposed to have a root canal this morning, but our area is in a state of emergency so thankfully I was able to cancel.

I just came in from being on the roof clearing off up to around 6ft up from the gutters. So much weight up there, doesn't help that it's like a layered cake up there with multiple layers of ice along with the snow. A few neighbors have roof leaks so I wanted to try and clear some off. Here's a pic of my neighbors shed roof right now...as you can see, the snow is still coming down. This is starting to get ridiculous.

Haha, you and me both. I miss snowy hiking and camping, but being able to do just about any sport year round is nice ;)

Spent the past few days in shorts and t's skateboarding, disc golfing, hiking etc.

Don't get me wrong, I get sick of the cold too but the cold doesn't prevent any of that. Snow doesn't always prevent it either but that amount that Rick showed is basically paralyzing! Where Rick's at, in Syracuse, is different. They're one of, if not, the snowiest cities in the country.

There is still plenty to do in the winter where it gets cold though. Hiking is a year round activity - It's actually awesome in the snow. I've lost count of how many times I've been disc golfing in 2025 already too. Yesterday was the first day I've played in temps above freezing this year. I've played in sub 10º F temps, 30mph winds, and there has been snow on the ground for the past month. If the ponds freeze I can go ice fishing... Now, I fully acknowledge that doing these things in the cold is less pleasant than doing them at more comfortable temperatures but they're still very doable.

That said... We've reached the part of winter where I'm sick of it and would like spring to arrive as soon as possible. :rofl

Sure, some activities translate well enough to winter. I've played hundreds of rounds of snow disc golf, and hiking in winter is great.

But others, not so much. no outdoor skateboarding, road biking, kayaking, etc.

Threw 18 holes of dg today and didn't even have to use my towel once. Can't say the same about playing a round in February up by the great lakes!

Though that was quite the storm we had, that's really nothing compared to what happened just north of my area. I have friends from work that live in this town, only about a half hour drive away from my house during normal weather. 25 business and homes in the area had roofs collapse. My friend has a party pavilion at his house, he said the bottom of the roof line is around 13ft off the ground. He went up there to shovel off the roof, he said he was just sitting there staring off at all the snow and resting for a minute when all the sudden he heard panting and his dog was up on the roof with him hahaha! He said there snowpile from all the snow on the ground and what he had knocked off the roof was 12 ft high and his dog just walked right up. No ladder needed for him to get down!

LOL! Yeah I basically have to carry two towels because the first one is inevitably soaked by hole 9.
