I look at people living on the streets and think "at least I could sell my addiction and recoup some of my poor decisions." Then I buy another knife.

Unfortunately, this bug has been the only one I haven't been able to kick. Finally cooled off on the binoculars and flashlights. The Native 5 was my first Spydie as well!

Welcome, it’s hard, I could easily buy a dozen a year. I try to keep myself to 2-4 now that I have 15 or so.

There is no cure. The only thing you can do is manage the symptoms with new Spydercos.

Ensuring that you don't have expendable income on hand is the best way to prevent farther purchases I think. How you do that could take some thought though. :thinking Luckily I have had no need to try at this because I have arrived at this state naturally. :grin-sweat

Welcome to the Forum.

I try to manage my desire to acquire new knives by using and enjoying the ones I have. Occasionally I add up how much I have spent on them and say to myself, "I could have bought a new (pistol, laptop, car, etc) if I had stopped buying knives :)

Find your favorite model. Buy a stack. Carry one every day.

Figuring out the best one for you is a fun journey, enjoy it.

I've been collecting knives for at least 8 years and this past 30 days dropped more than $1,000 on new Spydercos. Let me know if you ever figure out how to stop this obsessive compulsive disorder.

Please don't mention binoculars. So far I've managed to keep from buying a really good set because the ones that I want are over $1000. But it would not take much for me to buy them.

What would I use them for? The one day where I need them, whenever that happens to be. :woozy

Welcome, and... I don't know ;)

-What "helps" me personally:
Since I really want to more or less frequently carry and use each and every Spydie in my possession, having to many does not make much sense.
For quite some time my "rule" was to never own more than ten at any given point in time, but eventually I could not stick to that anymore... know it's more like fifteen, but still I am not only buying, but also selling/gifting.

- Another half-serious tip:
Try to combine aspects you want to check out in one and the same model:
So for example don't buy a larger AND a superlight AND a serrated Spydie, but just get one Pacific Salt SE instead...

Top three going by pocket-time (update April 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endura thin red line ffg combo edge (VG10), Chaparral SE (CTS XHP)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Endela SE (K390)

Welcome to the forum! Depending on your disposable income, it can sometimes be tough to buy a $100-$300+ knife. When I was younger and had a wife and son, a house payment and so on, I would go to gun & knife shows and just look, because I knew I could not afford to buy (yes, that was hard at times, but fortunately I had enough self-discipline). Now that I'm older, I can afford to spend more on knives. Try saving a small amount from each paycheck if possible, like $10/week adds up to $520/year. To maximize what you can buy, if possible wait until Black Friday (BF) when there are some amazing deals (I think I saved as much as 50% on a couple knives last year during BF sales). Models like those in Sprint runs unfortunately are often only available for a short time, so you either buy when they are available or you miss out (even then it's not the end of the world). Some people buy on impulse without giving it much thought, and that's usually not a good thing to do (tastes change over time, needs/desires change, and sometimes holding off on a purchase brings relief later). My personal recommendation is do NOT use credit and pay over time for something that you do not absolutely need – banks are charging outrageous interest rates on credit cards, even if your credit rating is excellent, so a "good deal" financed over many months turns out to be an expensive purchase. For me personally, knives are more of a hobby than a need, so I do at times spend more than I should (but NOT more than I can afford) – I enjoy my hobby, and I nearly always give a lot of thought to whether or not I really like a knife before I buy it (this helps prevent impulse buys).
