Hi all, Just wondering if Spyderco will have a booth at the Blade West Show in Portland. (Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at the Portland Oregon Airport Holiday Inn & Conference Center)? Are there any forumites planning on going? It would be fun if we could have Sal and Eric do a Spyderco show and tell there.

I guess there had been numerous complaints about the L.A. Show. The Oregon location allows more types of blades.

I have been informed that Spyderco is sitting this one out. This is a new location and I think they want to see if the crowds justify the expense of sending a display from Colorado. Some of the other companies are local to Oregon so it is a lot easier for them. I will be going on Friday.

I went to the show today. Someone told me the price per table would be (or is) $450. Was hoping for Spyderco and Emerson tables but neither were there.
There was plenty of Spydercos there, some unusual ones which I never saw in the catalog for the past 3 or 4 years. Happen to pick up a PE Gunting with a serial number (this is my second, my first has no serial number).
On a side note, Benchmade showed off several new folders along with a magnet latched Balisong...way cool.
Strider booth was great, never played with them before and would have purchased one if not for the high cost...would say they are well worth the price tag if I had the money.

I went down on Friday. The Strider booth was interesting though their prices are pretty high. They did have a Delica sized folding knife that was interesting. I picked up a mint early 70's Buck 110, a Newy Livesay neck knife, a Greco/Lile sheath knife and three partially finished custom knives all for very reasonable prices. I also bought a slab of blue G-10 for handle material.
As far as the displays, most of the companies represented were local Northwest based. The majority of the others were custom knife makers or custom knife dealers. Very little of the user knife resellers,(affordable). Friday there were a few empty tables so I don't know what they had Saturday. The only thing that I saw that was really neat was the production version of the new Kershaw Grant Folder which looks and opens like a Erector set.
