Native 5 and Manix LW in 15v - A Dream Come True

Of everything that is in the pipeline, these two new knives are far and away my favorites. I cannot see myself buying anything else until these come out.

Who else is VERY excited to see these knifes become available?

I'm psyched about the 15V Manix LW for sure. I sold my G-10 version when I heard the LW would appear, so I'm currently without any 15V at all.

Yeah, the Manix is the one that I'm eagerly awaiting. I still carry the heavyweight on occasion, but it only sees light use. I want the lightweight so I can beat it up.

Hi,
Why do you prefer the LW version? Do you intend to replace original scales with i.e. AWT scales ?

I seldom carry a G10 Manix anymore, because the LW versions feel not only lighter but smaller in the pocket. I realize that's not logical, it's the same size regardless. But the LW versions just carry a lot easier (for me), as if they were smaller knives. I've come to understand and appreciate others' (especially Apollo's) preference for a heavy knife, and might do the same if the knife were in hand more than in pocket. Since I work with so many other tools, the knife, while a vital piece of kit, only comes out occasionally, and usually when a more specialized tool isn't within reach.

Also I enjoy backpacking and am always trying to shed weight. A LW Manix gives me a sturdy back-country blade with an outstanding steel for only 2.8 ounces. Nice.

No plans to purchase AWT scales, though I've admired them on other spydie-bros' builds. I actually like the Manix FRCP.

Thanks for your response.
I am looking for a Manix 2 LW with 15v ….. I was wondering if the knife would be as hard use proof than a G10 version.
I know the 15v is not necessarily known for toughness but I am more asking towards the handle/construction differences/

The Spyderco that I've probably carried the most is a Manix 2 LW REX45. It would see traditional use at work, but also stuff like carving plastics and copper, cutting wires, scraping stuff, cutting abrasives, etc. It's held up fine. If it was my only knife, it would probably last the rest of my life. But I don't do REALLY stupid things with it. It's not a screwdriver, a prybar, or a hammer. I can't imagine a scenario where I'd be concerned about the strength of the knife and NOT worried about my own safety.
