Avocado Native 5 Exclusive

#1

Post by Patriot777 »

I just purchased an REC Exclusive Native 5 Avocado knife and have a few questions. I currently own 8 Spydercos from Dragon Flys to Manix 2 and love them.

Well received the Native 5 about a week ago and noticed a really gritty/sandy sound so I did some maintenance and found it is incredibly dirty, washers were not in great shape for a week old knife, blade was really off center and wiggles when closed. Which I have not seen before. Also the machining of the back lock had a burr on it. The burr does not affect the operation, however is not something I have seen on my other Spyderco back locks. Question is, should I be concerned?

I believe that nub is left by the cutter they use in Golden to make the parts to such close tolerances. In my experience, knives with coated blades tend to have rougher actions than uncoated ones at least until they wear in. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
