So sad to hear this news. His knowledge was so vast, his kindness so ready. I miss him
I've never met him, but I had the occasion to fit one of his knives with wood scales.

I've been here since the early days as well although I've never been the active contributor that so many are. The Deacon was an icon. We are fewer without him. As a young man in my mid-20s, he helped me discover that computer programming was the career field for me. I'll never forget him.

RIP Deacon. This forum will not be the same. I remember when I was asking about Centofante palladium bugs in a post, Deacon offered to send me one. He ended up sending two and a pacific salt pin from a show. Such a kind man that shared his knowledge and passion with all of us.

I've been so busy of late looking after a very sick friend and I'm sorry I didn't get this news sooner. Paul and I often disagreed on different Spyderco related subjects on the Forum but at the end of the day we could still send friendly PMs back and forth and maintain a friendship.

I'm truly sorry to hear this. I've lost 4 really good close friends here in my home town in the past year and I'm currently taking care of another very sick friend. It's news like this that truly makes you thankful for reasonably good health and your divine privilege of waking up each morning. He will truly be missed here at Spyderville.

A great loss for sure. I recall him from my first round on the forum, lost to time many many years ago (originally joined maybe 2007ish???). He will be missed.
