Given the popularity of the Avo and Scorpion Exclusives, I give REC credit for not gouging on the prices. This Native 5 is a couple bucks more than the '24 price for the standard S30V G10. Sold! As to the differences in prices on the models, I think their costs may have varied depending on when they placed the orders.

The '25 price for the S30V G10 looks like it will be 216.00, so this still looks like a bargain to me. Looking forward to mine arriving next week.

I'm sure someone from REC or Spyderco has noticed the propensity of this particular coating to temporarily "stain" with smudging after usage especially after cutting sticky materials. It's happening not just in the Para 3 LW, but also in the Shaman, Lil Native, etc. I think it has something to do with the lighter color of the coating compared to the usual black.
I think you’re on to something regarding the color as I haven’t had any similar issues with black coated blades (DLC and TiCN). Definitely will not be purchasing any more Avocado series in the future as the staining/smudging is a hassle.

Kicking myself that I waited too long on the KJ 20CV P3. Anyone want to trade one for my avocado? :winking-tongue

Social media, Nick, social media. 😂😂😂

Seriously though, I'm in the same boat as you too. It's some "influencers" on instagram and fb groups who have coined these contrived names, specifically chosen so that it would be easier to associate "emojis" with said knives. I kid you not. I honestly dislike it all (to put it mildly) but it is what it is right now.
LOL! All for matching emojis feels like a comedy skit but I 100% believe it. Yep, it is what it is. :hand-over-mouth

Pet names or not, at least the knives themselves are still some of the best in class. This is likely my favorite variation of Native 5 yet - It's a must have for me even with the nicknames. :cheap-sunglasses
I definitely agree. The color combination is just unique and aesthetically pleasing to me, that I'm just letting all those hokey emojis and nicknames pass by and not ruin my enjoyment of collecting these series. For me particularly, this is going to be a first N5 in G-10 for me so there's that anticipation too.

Mine just showed up, my first Native 5. Fedex mangled the box, but the knife is just fine, sharp and centered.

I hate it when they just ship these out in one of those bubble line shipping envelopes. They always come in with my boxes all smashed!!!
National Knives always ships in another box and wrapped in a really big towel. Killer service from them too...

I received mine in a small shipping box just wide enough to house the box with vertical space to spare...

Bummer! Had that happen with one of my Spydies. One corner was smashed in. Knife was ok. Luckily this one came intact.

She's a beauty. I get mine soon... getting to france takes a bit more time. I'll post a family photo once it arrives.

Which Lynch clip finish is it that matches the blade coating so well?

My Native 5 has arrived and it's a beauty. Here's the whole family (that I have. Maybe there's some I'm missing?)

Awesome! That's the complete family so far. Nice collection. I'm still missing the Para 3 and PM2 myself.

Isn't it weird though that the PVD coating wildly varies from blade to blade? I noticed that on my copies too.

It seems to be a more run to run things than the case of variability knife to knife (within a run), so I've been curious too if there is intent behind it, maybe sometimes thicker or thinner or applied a bit differently. The avocados seem to be a test for pvd before introducing more colors and widening the usage.

If you click on "special" under finish types, its the "coyote FDE cerakote". It's made to specifically match this colorway.

Hmmm, you may have a point there, it could be the difference in the thickness of the pvd application with each run, never thought of it that way.

REC doesn't ship to my country, so this is an easy pass, though some of our small online retailers are usually able to bring a few pieces in after a month.

If I miss it, like Wallach said, I too look forward to the CruCarta Native.

As luck would have it, since these didn't sell out within a few minutes, a local retailer was able to grab a few. The colorway is nice, but I can see how it can become soiled-looking with use --but since it's a tool then that's fine.

I'm still more excited about the upcoming CruCarta Native.
