Someone tell me how to NOT carry this thing.... and especially how to NOT use it whenever there is even the slightest opportunity. Just such a joy how it slices and cuts, when hiking for example in every break I have to find some wood or whatever, just to test the Chap SE and put it to work

Happy New Year!
Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Very late reply. This is a go-to knife for me for so many tasks. When I need a knife to take camping or on a road trip it's inevitably the first one I think to grab (and my custom Serratta).
Such as great design that never seemed to take off for some reason. Too small, maybe? Or perhaps an unfamiliar steel?
Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Yea, I don't get it either! When first getting serious about knives I didn't dabble into fixed blades for a bit. Had a few Bradford Guardians, then was gifted a Spyderco Mule and then this Junction. I use the Junction quite a bit in the garage (I just used it again this morning for more kindling processing). It's a thin knife but fits my hand securely and comfortably. Edge has held up just fine over the past 6 months or so.David R wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 12:27 pmVery late reply. This is a go-to knife for me for so many tasks. Since I use it for this purpose often, I'm thinking of giving it a higher grit finish to see how it performs. I don't bust out my sharpening equipment nearly as often as I used to...don't want to get rusty!

I tried one.David R wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 12:27 pmVery late reply. This is a go-to knife for me for so many tasks. When I need a knife to take camping or on a road trip it's inevitably the first one I think to grab (and my custom Serratta).

It's a nice knife overall but I didn't hold on to one because....
- scales were flat instead of rounded. it's a fixed blade, not a folder, so contour the scales.
- handle was a hair small for me
- wasted area by the ricasso - too small to make a good choil. would rather have cutting edge there.
Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Yes, I definitely agree on the choil. It is a bit small and doesn't give much confidence in trying to utilize it. Thankfully for me the handle itself is large enough for my hand.vivi wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 1:25 pmI tried one.David R wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2025 12:27 pmVery late reply. Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Looks a lot like the situation on the Waterway - since you know both, can you confirm?
I personally really like the... ricasso? Unsharpened area? on the Waterway for choking up on it, better than most choils. So I might also like it on the Junction.
But I am 100% aware that when it comes to this (preferred shape and style of choils, choking up on ricassos...) I am an outlier for whatever reason. It just is what it is.
