Great choice, one of the best no nonsense workhorse Spydies one could own imo (once again I know @aicolainen would agree... ;) )

Someone tell me how to NOT carry this thing.... and especially how to NOT use it whenever there is even the slightest opportunity. Just such a joy how it slices and cuts, when hiking for example in every break I have to find some wood or whatever, just to test the Chap SE and put it to work

Put the Junction to work shaving down some kindling to even finer pieces for fire starting. Felt very comfortable in hand and the edge held up nicely!

Very late reply. This is a go-to knife for me for so many tasks. When I need a knife to take camping or on a road trip it's inevitably the first one I think to grab (and my custom Serratta).

Such as great design that never seemed to take off for some reason. Too small, maybe? Or perhaps an unfamiliar steel?

Yea, I don't get it either! When first getting serious about knives I didn't dabble into fixed blades for a bit. Had a few Bradford Guardians, then was gifted a Spyderco Mule and then this Junction. I use the Junction quite a bit in the garage (I just used it again this morning for more kindling processing). It's a thin knife but fits my hand securely and comfortably. Edge has held up just fine over the past 6 months or so.

Since I use it for this purpose often, I'm thinking of giving it a higher grit finish to see how it performs. I don't bust out my sharpening equipment nearly as often as I used to...don't want to get rusty!

Thanks! :smlling-eyes

... and yes, exactly 6 hours and 27 minutes ago (I did check that indeed :grin-sweat ) on todays nice little hike on the mountain closest to my hometown.

I tried one.

It's a nice knife overall but I didn't hold on to one because....

- scales were flat instead of rounded. it's a fixed blade, not a folder, so contour the scales.

- handle was a hair small for me

- wasted area by the ricasso - too small to make a good choil. would rather have cutting edge there.

Yes, I definitely agree on the choil. It is a bit small and doesn't give much confidence in trying to utilize it. Thankfully for me the handle itself is large enough for my hand.

Yes, that was my first attempt at snaking the scales. Thanks for the comment.

Looks a lot like the situation on the Waterway - since you know both, can you confirm?

I personally really like the... ricasso? Unsharpened area? on the Waterway for choking up on it, better than most choils. So I might also like it on the Junction.
But I am 100% aware that when it comes to this (preferred shape and style of choils, choking up on ricassos...) I am an outlier for whatever reason. It just is what it is.
