If the blade is 80 mm, how large is the cutting edge?

Let's calculate: Manix blade 95mm, cutting edge 83 - makes 12mm difference (choil).
Manix 80mm: blade (obviously) 80mm, minus 12mm choil (I guess a choil is the same for both knives) - makes 68mm cutting edge. Same as a Delica's cutting edge.

Sounds too short, isn't that?

Micheael, absolutely agree that the Lil' Temperance IS the most perfect spyderco ever made. However, the Lil's cutting edge is 3" (76mm)! Not 68mm.
I do not see the choil to be so important for SMALL (~3") blades, as long as it compromises the cutting edge length. Lil' has no choil.

I appreciate the 50/50 choil for safe and easy closing of my frontlock spydies as well as for precise work with the knife...for me I like it for any size spydie e.g. the Kiwi!

Franco G: If your calculation of the dimension's are correct, and Sal did say it resembled a Calypso Jr on steroid's, then, given the attribute's of the Manix, we are in for one serious tank of a knife. :D .

I am ready for this knife so I'm bumping the thread back up!
Does anyone know if this one will be out before the year ends or should we expect in the 2006 catalog?

Sal posted this on THIS thread on British Blades forum yesterday.
Sal wrote: The blade is about 3-1/4". Couldn't get it smaller and still keep the (handle) egos.

The first pieces should go to colletors next week.

Apart from Spydutch, I too would really like to know if the Manix 80mm will be available with full serrations?
