You guys are killing me, I've bought too many knives lately but this is the last major one on my radar unless/until a Bodacious variant pops up.

I'd say that too, but then I wouldn't believe either of us. 😎

Can´t recall if you ever had a Chaparral LW, but you might know how extremely positive I feel about the whole platform itself and what one generally gets with this knife:
The extremely solid built, the superslim carry with still good and especially "locked in" ergos", the amazing backlock with its stop pin, the great blade - to handle ratio and (for a knife with choil) also edge to handle ratio (much better than let´s say on a DFly or Delica), the 2mm, slicey but still strong blade and tip , the Taichung fit and finish...
I personally would take a Chap over let´s say a Native 5 (they are pretty close in edge length) any day of the week.

Now THIS thing with serrations is something I´ve been dreaming about for quite some time - so cool that now it actually gets made!
I am sure you´d love it in SE.
Top three going by pocket-time (update October 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endela SE (VG10), Manix 2 LW (REX45)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1)

I’m 99% sure that this is on my “to buy next” list, bumping the Leafjumper and Alcyone.

Crazy good deal in Europe:

Böker has them mislabeled for 108.95 Euros:
https://www.boker.de/chaparral-frn-gray ... e-01sp1261
Just took delivery on mine and can confirm that the picture ist correct and the description isn't: C152SGY is what arrived :-)

@Wartstein: Do you already own one? If not, now seems to be the time.

Thanx so much, man!! :preying

Totally would have missed that (actually the Chap SE is nowhere else available yet here in Europe as far as I am aware of), of course placed an order immediately! :open-grin

A bit weird that they put the serrated Chap on sale, while it is not even really available (at other dealers) here in Europe... while all the other variants (including the FRN PE) are still at full price.
Well, good for us, right? ;)

Cheers mate, you're welcome! And thanks to you for making such a strong case to try out the super slim package that is the Chap - I wouldn't have sought one out otherwise.

This listing is strange in many ways indeed. I'm not complaining though.

Back on topic: This is a special knife - serrations make so much more sense in such thin blade stock. I'm looking forward to your opinion, I've got a feeling this might be the new "if you try SE try this one first"-option.

BladeHQ has these on sale for $90 guys. Just ordered one. Don’t sleep on a Chap at that price if you don’t have one.

I think it’s what I paid for my PE Chap when they first came out 🤦‍♂️.

+1...
if you live in the US, definitely don't miss out!!

My own Chap SE is on its way btw. :smlling-eyes (in my case ordered from an European dealer of course)

Yeah I’m excited. I would have bought one of these a while ago but they were out of stock, and then priced pretty high.

Amazon had them at $115 last week which is slightly under MAP.

Really everyone on this forum should buy a $90 Chaparral — serrated or plain edge — as there really are never better deals on Spyderco’s than that and it’s no joke the best knife they make IMO.

Yes, if I could only keep two knives it would be the Chap and some larger, tougher folder. The Chap is everything you want in a small knife for EDC: thin blade, decent steel, slim handle with good ergos, and doesn’t look scary.

And the price is… tolerable.

That good, yes.

And kind of unique in some aspects in the Spyderco lineup...2mm ffg blade (with still comparably robust tip)... lockrock-free backlock with Internal stop pin...rather lightweight, but still extremely solid built... superthin carry with still good ergos.

I have one of those on the way also. It will be my first Chaparral my second SE Spyderco after receiving a Leaf Jumper SE in VG-10 just last week.

Just got mine, SE. I am surprised how small this knife feels in hand, not a bad way. I was expecting something close to the feel of a Native 5 but with the thin blade stock, in hand, it feels more like a Dragon Fly that you can get most of your hand on. I am looking forward to using it and how the "rounded" SE performs vs my Pacific Salt SE. Should be a great knife to carry while i am in a suit.

This is one of the great things about the Chap: Handle just 5 mm longer than the Dflys, but packs a whopping 13 mm more blade into it (and almost the same cutting edge as a Native 5).

And when using the choil, the Chap offers a good, solid four finger grip even for bigger hands.

Got my SE Chap today. My first time with wavy serrations. Aesthetically I don't like them. But they do seem to work amazingly well. I see they CQI'd the lock bar to not bite into people's fingers as much. I didn't think it was necessary but I know a lot of people will appreciate that.

I replaced the clip on my PE Chap because of issues with the wire clip that they CQI'd pretty quickly after. Will see if the stock clip works for me.

Seems like a truly wicked EDC.

No haven't owned one yet but it's always been on my radar, but always got passed over for other models. Even now and even though they're not very similar I wonder if I'd carry one over my Bodacious or a SE Bodacious. But, I am very interested in the style of serrations they're using, they look amazing and I already know how good a thin SE is from my Z-Cut and ARK so I don't think there would be a lot of surprises with this one for me, I'm pretty confident that I'd love it. Typically I don't have a lot of knives on my purchase list but I've bought more in the last couple months than I have in probably 2 years so I'm trying to pace myself and get to know what I've bought before moving on.
