I have been scanning the European knifeshops for any news on the knife. I really hope they will become available.

I've been keeping an eye out for this one. Haven't seen anyone selling them yet. Hopefully it won't be long. I was always interested in the fixed temp. I've only tried the folding versions.

Same. Every Kali guy who liked Spyderco (which is all of 3 people but they were very knowledgeable) who I've asked for fixed blade recommendations all said the Temperence fixed blade.

I think it's going to replace my other 4-5" belt knives for actual use. Cruwear is great steel on a short fixed blade, and lightweight but secure and comfortable handles belong outdoors.

Yes, i used to do kali sikaran back then and transition from heaven to earth grip was a dream due to the dimples in the handle. The thumbrest was perfect. My dog chewed on the handle destroying it so it was a real shame i had to part with it. Still waiting.

So, to be clear, a “concealed tang” is another way of saying NOT a full tang?

On forums sal has said before that the tang goes about half way down the handle.

I hope the dog was okay and didn’t get touched by the edge! Also sorry about your handle man. I’d also like to replace my temperance after deforming the edge out trying to baton with it. I heavily agree with you on the ergonomics, for a full size hand filling handle, I have to say this is spydercos best work in that department. Every way you grip this handle it is natural and locked in.

I have to say I was a little disappointed to see the design of the blade on this temperance sprint run was changed slightly. They added a hole, removed the sharpening choil, changed the thumb ramp a little and the plunge is angled different. Eh. Oh well. I just much prefer the design of the original blade and wish it was kept the same.

Haha nice. The no notch is the least concerning change imo, if I end up getting one of these sprints it wouldn’t be hard to add a notch

Thanks.

I suppose it’s silly to imagine that a half-tang will fail when we extol some Spydie folders as purpose-built for self-defence.

Still, I wonder why the Temperance2 (on my list to get) went full-tang.

You’re welcome.
Personally I can’t imagine what someone would have to be doing with the temp 1 that would cause tang failure, can you? This isn’t the kind of knife to pry car doors open or stab into trees and stand on the handle. I think for the type of knife this is it doesn’t need a full tang. with the sophisticated shape of the handle, having a full tang would probably be a lot harder to manufacture, and make the knife quite a bit heavier. In regards to the temp2, I think they just wanted to try out the model in some nice micarta, which just makes sense to do with scales and a full tang, but that means the handle can’t be as 3d contoured as the molded handles. The temp2 i imagine is still super ergonomic. I’d love to try one out too someday

I've been still amazed that after all these years since I got my very first two TEMPERANCE 1 models (SE & PE) that they are still been my favorite hard use fixed blade models. And there have been some really impressive fixed blade models in Spyderco's main line up over the years. But the design of this knife was absolutely perfect from the get-go. Even my older TEMP 1 models in VG-10 are astounding to work with.

I still use both of my VG-10 TEMP 1 models in the kitchen quite often. The two of them together are also extremely handy to process wild game along with other outdoor uses. I still remember the first deer I skinned with the PE version and how easy it was.

I don't care if I have to eat a diet of hot dogs and bologna for the next month I've just got to have both the new Cruwear versions in PE & SE. I'll be checking this thread daily to see which dealers get them. This is one of the best Sprint Runs to come along in quite a while.

I don’t have a great need for fixed blades. But I don’t think I can resist serrated cruwear.

You will not regret getting a Cruwear TEMP 1 model. If you get the SE it won't be long you'll want the PE as well.

I'm just hoping that this Sprint Run goes over so good that Spyderco will consider doing a SALT Series version of the TEMP 1.

The handle and blade design is perfect. They got it all totally right the first time. But a Cruwear blade will make this a big box office success for sure.

good timing. I just took a bunch of small fixed blades out to compare them. Getting to be the time of year where I camp, hike, work on my trails etc. Waiting on the PE, then I'll be comparing it to Moras, ESEE's, SRK's etc.
