Just received my PD#1 Police. A really nice example of a Seki backlock! Even grinds, decent action out of the box. The color is like the last sip of a deep red wine that dried on the bottom of the glass overnight ^^, definitely more plum than straight up burgundy. Oh, and the coating is real nice! Don't know about durability, but it has a nice satin feel and look. Can't wait for the stretch to arrive in the EU
Only two cons I've found, both minor and gonna be gone soon after I put my edge on it - the factory edge is on a wonk and off center and it hits the little backlock spring post in the handle (barely, a tiny roll). At least it's nicely sharp
I'd say the coating is good. I'm not generally a coating guy, but wanted to try the steel and have a lotta love for the P4LW. So I got it.
I've been carrying and using my PD#1 P4LW for 3-ish?? weeks now. I ordered from the first batch that hit the site, from knifeworks. Anyway - every day, three-ish weeks, mostly in the pocket (at work, in the yard, riding my bicycle, everywhere except pt), and in the waistband when doing pt (though I do not carry it on my 4+hour runs, which I don't actually count as pt - oddly enough).
I use it at work, in the yard, in the kitchen, in stores, etc... Zero issues with corrosion. That's anywhere on the coating, OR on the edge. I've thinned the edge bevel down noticeably from factory, and it's handling it just fine. I keep a 300-ish grit edge on it also - no issues there either, but boy it sure does BITE. Feels good on the stone, and deburrs easily enough.
Keeping my fingers crossed for a linerless FFG P4LW Salt (LC200N or Magnacut) Pretty Please.
