Re: Native Chief Lightweight SPY27
Got notification this was in stock at my usual dealer and put my order in. Sold off my G10 Native Chief a while back, and really miss this design. Can’t wait to get the lightweight version in my hand!

When these start rolling in, can someone relay whether or not they’re stonewashed?
The promo pictures look definitively stonewashed but I’ve been seeing some “satin” in descriptions

Mine arrived today and I'm blown away about how much more I like it than the initial G10 linered release. Very light and nimble with the balance point about a short half inch behind the pivot. SPY27 blade has an even grind and was quite sharp. A few strokes on a strop and it was hair popping. Might have to pick up the blacked out BD1N SE next.

Is the action and ease of one handed opening and closing what you expected?
Re: Native Chief Lightweight SPY27
No complaints. Golden backlocks are totally dialed in and the Chief LW is no exception. No thumb ramp so access to the thumb hole makes flicking it a challenge, but I prefer a slow roll anyway. Closes like a bank vault.

Right you are, I had to pull it out of storage to confirm. Still, after comparing it with the FRN I like the LW better. The LW feels more nimble and actually has a stronger backspring. Thanks for keeping me honest.
Re: Native Chief Lightweight SPY27
Same …. about the Spyderco models I like. Usually end out parting ways with the G10. Only exception so far is the UKPK and that one is a toss-up but at times I like it better with G10. I think being a smaller knife there isn’t much weight difference from its FRN sibling and the added mass helps absorb the “pop” of the blade when it sets in the open position.
