Winter is here. Did you change up what you're carrying?

Winter is here. Did you change up what you're carrying?

Discuss what you carry during the Winter months for self defense, firearm or edged weapon.

You may have to go through at least 3 layers of shirts and long underwear as well as a thick Winter coat, which could be leather.

Firearm owners should probably change-up the ammo they use. Maybe even the caliber! Hollow points may clog on clothing and not expand. What did you decide to carry? FMJ?

Self defense with a knife in the Winter months is totally different. You definitely need something with an acute tip on the knife to penetrate the clothing of your adversary. Last year I tried to carry fixed 4+ inch blades for self defense.

How about you?

For stabbing through bear skin cloaks and the frozen bones of white walkers,
I've found nothing better than Valyrian Steel.

Living on the South Side of Chicago for 25+ years can change you. Just think of the children growing up there. What a mess....

Can always take the advice of Candace Owen's and wear a helmet. It's football season so it's fashionable for this time of year.

Maybe I'm just not tough enough? :thinking

In 2016 ALONE after decades of attacks on property and self on Chicago's South Side:

- Guy rides on shoulder in rush hour traffic and refuses to merge on Hwy 57S until he sees a concrete highway abutment so he forcefully attempts to push my van over a lane and sideswipes me at 65MPH.
- Woman driving behind me on 55th St near Midway Airport decides she does not like driving behind traffic (10 cars) and decides to drive headlong into rush hour traffic.... sideswiping my van at 40MPH.
- 5 guys see me walking to Dr's office at 47th and Emerald and threaten to shoot me for walking on the sidewalk.

After threats by various gangs and thousands of dollars to property we sell $650,000+ in property on Chicago's South Side. Even my brother with 25+ years on the Chicago Police Dept cannot get his gf to move into home with him in Beverly. The 2 flat that we have has been in the family 100+ years, is being sold right now and we are not going to return ever again.

THINK I NEED A HELMET? :rofl

The last time that I defended myself, the people that "run" Chicago decided it would be better for me to be kicked and beaten by 5 guys than defend myself. I have the training to take them out, but you are not legally allowed to defend yourself in LaLa Land....

I've lived my whole life on the south side of Chicago. Was in Bolingbrook the other night for axe throwing.

Bollingbrook is not anywhere near the South Side of Chicago. It is around 25 to 35 miles away.

I lived in Canaryville at the front of the Chicago Stockyards for 25+ years and I've had to deal with Saints Disciples, Latin Kings, 42 Boyz and legitimately insane neighbors that allowed people to strip cars in her backyard because they paid rent on time. I was not raised in Canaryville, but have many relatives that are there. The 2 flat we have there is being sold within the next 2 weeks. I'd rather live in a car than live in Chicago and it may come to that.

My folks tried to give my brother a home at around 107th and Hoyne in Beverly and his gf (with son) refuses to move in with him there so they are selling that property to buy or build a new home outside of Chicago.

I'm **** on Wheels and will bust you for anything that is outside the law.

Maybe we are two different types of people?

Nobody said or implied any vigilantism. In fact it's just the opposite. The left wants ne'er-do-wells to control Chicago. The city council, mayor and DA treat crime in the city as if it has to be done equitably, when the crime is not distributed that way. My brother who has worked as a Chicago Police Officer for 25+ years agreed with me and we are unloading the properties.

We are retreating not standing and fighting. Chicago is a giant ghetto, an outdoor prison with so many inmates it is impossible to go about your business and not be attacked or have to carry yourself like an assailant. People are not allowed to defend themselves either.

The following is a popular blog on the North Side of Chicago but they print a few other scraps of news, totally avoiding the South and most of the West Side. This blog is about THE BEST NEIGHBORHOOD AREA that Chicago has to offer.

GOOD LUCK!

Not sure why firearm owners who reply hundreds of times in other threads left me hanging.

I think the off topic forum just gets less traffic than general. I don't carry for self defense but I look forward to carrying small fixed blades once we get to jacket weather here.
