Hi BlackNinja,
IMHO the II is the best due to superior ergonomics and steel. I had a I and now a II. The 440v will get sharp, but the S30v gets and keeps a crisp razor edge.Enjoy and let us know when you get it. :D

I can sharpen my 440V Lil' Temp easily on bench stones, so it can't be all that bad. I'm sure S30V is a better steel, but for what I'm going to cut with my Chinook I, I'll trade the steel for the beastly. :)

:D :D Thanks Wali, it will probably be a couple of weeks before I get it though. A week to save the rest of the $ & maybe a week for shipping. :D

The chinook is one of the best feeling knives I have ever held in my hand. It seems to really fit your hands well, when you are cutting something. One fine knife.

I have both the Chinook I (440v) and Chinook II. Love them both. The Original is so tight that after handling the II, it sometimes feels a bit harder to open.

I just got my chinook II yesterday and I am loving it! It is a heavy chunk of steel, but it is pretty comfortable for me to carry. It seems that even the heavy Spydercos are relatively thin and flat, which helps. As said before, the ergos are incredible. It just feels made for your hand in any grip. I was surprised at the smoothness of the lock and the solid "click" sound is really satisfying.

One caveat is that the blade shape, which I love by the way, I have found may not lend itself for every task. The upswept tip makes cutting out coupons a little more difficult and the thickness of the blade doesn't really slice your apples that well. But I doubt anyone would buy it for these purposes. :) This is a knife I would feel confident in a SD situation and will do great for 90% of my day to day tasks.

A great knife-- beautiful, functional and well-made. Sometimes you can just feel quality when you hold it in your hand.

Cheers :spyder:
