two theories...

1. spyderco asked everyone from blade show to hold off posting their videos until the reveal is posted. i was thinking this might be today and then the videos would start showing up with more than quick footage of a single small display of knives, but that hasn't happened still, which leaves me wondering if...

2. something is seriously wrong in spydieland. i can't imagine anything but some serious health issue or something along those lines keeping spyderco from making a strong presence at a blade show. with a reveal coming up and their normal round of interviews at these shows, it's hard to believe they only brought a single case of knives that are current production and didn't do a single interview with anyone.

i really hope everyone is okay.

Do you see a choil-less Shaman?.. Or? ;)

I see a graphic designer who is going to get fired because he can't focus the camera.

There's probably no shortage of potential disruptions that can throw manufacturing/logistics off schedule these days, so I don't want to serve up any theories, but if this was how they intended the weekend to unfold, it's an odd choice for sure.

I was at blade west. Didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary at the spyderco booth.

Truthfully, that spyderco offers a compendium of upcoming models is a benefit to us that isn’t owed in any form. When they release the release is up to them.

Like you said they don’t ow us anything. By the way in many kinds of businesses these past few years giving intel on wat is coming is kinda done anyways. To much trouble with customers complaining when thing’s dont go as planned for example. :woozy
So it will come but only ones Sal has found the need to release it.

you all are missing the point. this isn't a cry of entitlement. i'm genuinely concerned that something is wrong because none of this is normal for them.

and as far as owing customers... they announced that there was a reveal coming soon. so that is owed, but certainly on their own timeline. it just happens that they aren't operating as normal, which raises questions. those answers are also not owed, but that doesn't make it wrong to ask.

when it was just spyderco not posting the reveal, some of us were vocal about it. i made a thread that was meant to be taken as tongue in cheek... some got that and some didn't. whatever. but we're now talking about something different. this is t just a reveal that was advertised as soon that hasn't come yet... all of the vendors and youtube channels at bsw and not one has released a video of talking to spyderco. that's just plain weird and it has nothing to do with feelings of being owed anything.

Lb i hope you know my reply was not aimed at you.
But i do think that if someone important at spyderco was ill or something like that so it made releasing the reveal impossible for now. We would probably know because as far as i know spyderco they would ask for patience (without giving private details offcourse) but they also do not do that so my idea is there is something not devastatingly wrong at spyderco but rather just a hickup of some sorts.
Who knows maybe that teaser went out to early and now there chasing to catch up. :neutral

Owe? It isn't done as an obligation, it's done as marketing and promotion of new products.

Of course Spyderco doesn’t owe us anything but I don’t think it’s wrong to anticipate something they told was coming soon. Even though “soon” isn’t an exact timeframe, in my opinion they haven’t exceeded what would be expected.

Owe or not, I’m really excited for the choilless Shaman. Can’t come soon enough in my book.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Reveal post up! Choilless Shaman. Kinda surprised and disappointed there's no contouring or even a bit of significant chamfering.

Edit: and Manix Salt! Well LB, you should be pretty happy now. 😅

I think they really dropped the bomb on this reveal, hence the long delay.

Catcherman! Sheesh. Still a right only knife. But should make a LOT of folks happy.

I agree, that Bodacious is a bit...odd. I see why it's not the choil-less Shaman. That would be a disservice to the Shaman! Makes me think of a Lum design.

Worth the wait I would say! Happy I was right about choilless shaman when started this thread, but surprisingly it is the only model I’m not interested in at the end. Too many great choices otherwise…
