This may be my favorite fixed blade ever...

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
Yeah, I couldn't believe it when Benchmade discontinued the 710. Definitely informed my opinion on how many backups is "reasonable" for models I know I like.

My favorite Benchmade was the 810-1401 Contego with M390 - it was Blue & Black
I really wish they would male another run of those

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
Yeah, knifeworks had some awesome exclusives in the 2000s to mid-10s. The 710-1401, 810-1401 as you mention, and 806-1101 were definitely standouts with blue-black G10 and M390 blades. (Of all the knives I've sold, the 806BK-1101 is the first one I would tell my past self to hold onto.)
There were some nice Spydercos in there too, particularly the 204P and dark green models IMO. I know others enjoyed all the Militaries, like the S90V CF/Ti or the M390 CF. I've said it before but I'm pretty sure I could limit my collection to KW exclusives and still be quite happy.
I wish Benchmade still did dealer exclusives to the same degree - especially with bringing back discontinued models like the 806 and 730 were at the time - but they seem to have moved away from that. Well, saves me money for more Spyderco sprints and exclusives, hah.
Other personal Benchmade favorites from KW include the 730-1202 (Ares with satin M390, black G10) and the 525BK-1101 (Mini Presidio with CPM-M4).
Gratuitous 710 pic - two 710D2, and two 710-1401 (one dyed with navy RIT). These were my 710 discontinued/closeout pricing haul from KW. My wife already convinced me to give one of the D2s to my brother-in-law as a milestone birthday gift, so...good thing I stocked up.

Keen

I just learned there's a Keen mini that looks really nice for a great price. Problem is it's too close to the MBK EZC M390 Canvas Micarta and there's no way it would replace that

In fact I just saw that MBK now has the EZC Canvas Micarta available in Cruwear with black PVD blade. Really tempting but I'm going to stick with the Satin M390
Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most!

MBK puts out some great knives, they seem to sell out pretty quickly. Must be doing something right over there!

Thanks ! Seems like tuning will be like on harder-to-tune PM2s, but instead of 4 screws you need to set at 15° precision, it will be only one screw at 4/5° precisionGiygas wrote: ↑Sun Sep 17, 2023 10:50 amIt looks like it just needs some fine tuning.
Id clean the pivot threads really well with isopropanol, apply some purple or blue threadlock, get it to the point you have it in that video then using ultra-fine adjustments, tighten the pivot until its centered and has no play. Let it sit for 24 hours.
It's definitely gonna be "tighter" than a sebenza, especially since it's brand new, but it should still have great slow rolling/hydraulic action.
Since the Inkosi doesn't have a bushing pivot like the Sebenza, and because of the tight tolerances, a little too tight can end up being way too tight. That's what I suspect is happening.

For me, today was back to Spyderco with this nice Dragonfly ! Almost managed to blacken the whole core. I'll be back to try and succeed

Wow!! I didn't know they even had those in Magnacut! I've admittedly not been looking at knives for the past few months...trying to recoup from an expensive summer of house projects. That's a beauty though Hans, good for you man!

Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
Thanks Salty! And you are right, KSF is fantastic. I've been a customer for many years. My first ever expensive knife was in 2011 from them, a custom Koster MUCK 6 inch camp knife in 3V. It is still The Boss of the blades in my small FB collection.SaltyCaribbeanDfly wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 4:29 amLet’s Go!!! Re: What "Other" is in your pocket???
Thanks Rick! I was waiting for the Magnacut Inkosi's to drop before I tried a micarta model. I sort of stumbled upon it one evening... All their other red micarta exclusives are still S45VN, but I noticed they recently listed the large Insingos in MC. I emailed to confirm. Still in stock by the way...
