Yes, at least for now. Hopefully they're getting ready to do the Sage 6

No way! Haha The wire clips are the best! I'd prefer something besides peel-ply G10 too

Sage 6 CBBL with G10 feels right. Taichung is up for the task!

Every one should grab a Sage1 while they still can... It's always my go to Sage out of all of them for some reason. Such a great design and burly liner lock.

Sage6 in CBBL seems likely. I still hope to see a button lock.

Oh, and a Sage2 reborn in 10v of course.

I wonder if a CBBL Sage would need to use the Sage 3 design? :thinking

Would be very similar to the Blackie Collins Bolt Action Lock on the Sage 3. However, the patented CBBL from Spyderco would keep within the design criteria of using different locks for the series.

One interesting thing about thing about the Sage 3 is that it uses a uniquely taller handle shape than the other Sages in order to accommodate the lock.

Yes and I've thought that a Sage with CBBL would need to be in the taller format as you mentioned. I'd be fine with a CBBL Sage but I think I'd rather have one with the Button Lock as abbazaba mentioned

I also agree that folks need to get a Sage 1 while they can. The Maximet version with grey G10 is really nice. I like it as much, maybe more, than the original Sage 1

I love the qualities of maxament but I heard it corroded easily. I live near the ocean so that's a no go steel for me.

I sold my LW Sage, but am very happy w the one in Maxamet.

I don't see corrosion as in brown rust, just patina on my Maxamet blades while I did saw rust on K390.
YMMV.

Hoping for a new batch of Sage 2 some day.

Well I certainly love a good patina but does it hurt the knife or weaken it or anything?

Speaking of Sages. I had my Sage 5 CF on my desk. I noticed it was a little sluggish. So I took it apart to clean it and found a little flat spot on the detent ball. So I popped it out and pressed in a ceramic one. I also opened the detent hole while I was at it. I honestly didn't think it would make much of a difference but I was wrong. It's much improved

I didn’t want to deal with corrosion at the time as well, so I found Sage 1 in s30v on eBay. Pure class.. I plan to order custom scales (maybe even grey G10) or micarta one day.
Recent favourites: Massad Ayoob CPM CRU-WEAR PE & SE, Yojimbo 2, Lil' Temperance 3 K390.
Looking to add: Spyderco C131CFP Terzuola Slipit.

It is a protective layer. Beneficial stuff. But the point is, it just looks cool.

I have never had a non-SS 'super steel' knife rust/corrode, and I live in the PacNW. I suspect that as long as you clean and dry your knife after use, you will never have a problem. I say 'suspect' because I only owned carbon steel knives in my youth when I lived in SE Texas on the Gulf of Mexico, and my knives only rusted if I forgot about them after use - surely these new 'super steel' non-stainless steels can hold up as well as my 1960's Boker and Schrade pocket knives?

I have three Maxamet models - just missing the PM3 and Manix. My 2nd-hand PM2 does have pitting and a lot of patina, but the knife is 100% functional and I don't expect the degradation to continue. The Sage 5 with grey G10 scales is one of my favorites, as is the Native 5 with grey FRN.

I have only had to touch up a couple that were already fairly sharp, but had no problem getting a very sharp edge - went from sharp to super-sharp more easily than with other steels.
