Is this a $200 knife with a 2” blade? And then when you scratch the FDE coating it’s worth 30-40% less? In other words, mostly a collection item?

Actually an honest question…..not trying to be facetious.
.
FDE sounds nice but what type of coating is it? I am guessing DLC?? That would be cool, I would be tempted.

It's PVD not DLC.

A military 2 would break the internet.
That would be quite the spectacle!! An incredible way to welcome that knife.

Didn't REC say before in the past that they would re-release some of their models? I feel like I've seen something about that around here before. If so, lil Native would sound about right.
They oversold their Lil Native exclusive and gave people either first rights to order the Lil Native when the second batch arrives or early access to the PM2 that they released soon after the Lil Native.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is the rest of the Lil Natives.

I carry my REC Lil Native more than any other knife, I love it. I would probably still be tempted by another run of compression lock Lil Natives… :grin-squint

Ahhh, snap, you have a point there...I already have the REC Lil Native and it's the prize in my LN collection (together with the St. Nick's LN). Was hoping for a different knife.

Although I could use another as a backup so I can put the first one to use lol.

Another possibility is that they could also etch an Avocado or something like it for this release, like what they did with the 10v Para 3s.

I actually hope it’s a lil native. I wouldn’t mind adding a REC lil native to the collection.

Since Boston has a doofus 2.5” law, I have quite a few lil natives and dragonflies that I carry when I’m working in the city. This would fit the bill nicely…for me, personally…for others it might be a bummer but hay…

Sure sounds like. That's quite a price to pay for a fashion statement. I'm gonna pass on this, everywhere it is. I have a native 5 g10 speeding its way to me now I'm happy

I have owned a REC avocado Shaman and Manix. I was extremely underwhelmed and they both just looked gimmicky to me. I would really like to see more 10V in almost any knife configuration though. I missed out on the BBB Manix so a 10V Manix would be particularly nice and I have already asked for a 10V Native Chief, so somehow my ‘wisher’ is not quite connected to REC.

Yes, that sounds right... I forgot PVD was the only finish that was anything other than black.

Got one of their 10V Para 3's from the recent drop and agree, 10V is awesome. I missed out on the PM2's in 10V a couple years back, but yeah would love a run of 10V in the Manix for sure.

PVD is an acronym for the process in which the coating is applied. (Physical Vapor Deposition) It is often referring to a Titanium-Nitride coating that can be produced in a variety of colors, including black.

Spyderco’s black coated models that are made in Taiwan and Japan use a TiCN (titanium carbon nitride) coating that is applied via the PVD process.

DLC (diamond-like carbon) coatings are a different material but they are also applied with a PVD process. Technically speaking, DLC is also a PVD coating.

Interesting. I did not know that. Thanks for the info.

I think it's just a product reveal right now. The release will be later. REC normally releases stuff at 1200pm EST if I remember correctly. No clue when they'll actually be available tho.

Via Instagram it's a Lil Native in their Avocado colors.

Would have been in for a pm2, lil native is too small for my hand. Prefer the Chaparral. Already have the Manix.

I was kind of hoping this would be a Native 5. I'm liking the Lil' Native more these day. So I might try for one of these. We'll see

Would be tempted but want to get a cheaper one to see if I even like the platform first. If it was a Native 5 I would probably jump, price depending.

If it's 204P like the others in this series then it's very likely I'll do the same, not a fan of super high carbide stuff in general.
