The more I see this knife the more I think of carrying my Siren. They seem pretty similar!Wartstein wrote: ↑Sat Jul 29, 2023 10:06 pmGoddard with me on a another nice adventure in the mountains (searched for and found a forgotten cave that goes roughly 2/3 of a mile Into the mountain with a vertical drop of about 1/3 of a mile - then climbed a nice and easy line through the face of the peak on the right ).
This knife is really good.
Such a thin carry with still good ergos, my personal ideal "regular" blade/edge length for a folder and the M4 [no, 4V of course. Thanks for correctimg me jwbnyc] steel actually surpasses my already high expectations when it comes to edge holding.

Had a Siren for a short period of time, and yes, there are quite some similarities, mainly handle- and blade shape.
As much as I liked that Siren, I still like the Goddard even better.
- I always prefer FRN over G10
- The Goddard is a thinner carry (actually really thin) while still feeling nice in hand
- The Goddard is a bit lighter
- I prefer the barrel- over the wire clip
- The Goddard has a bit thinner blade stock
- I prefer the 4V steel over LC200N by far (actually and totally unscientificly the 4V performs BETTER but LC "less good" as I had expected when it comes to edge retention).
- The Goddard has an almost flat spine, which is nice, but not totally like the Siren. The very subtle hump/thumb "ramp" makes for an easier opening
- The Goddard has a better (long, rather flat) choke up area than the Siren - actually better than pretty much any finger choil for me
- The Goddard features a boye dent, the Siren not. This leads to the Sirens blade coming slightly loose / rattly when the handle is gripped tight in a hammer grip.
- The Goddard makes the actual grip area on the available handle length as long as possible, the Siren though shortens it imo unnecessarily.

I think I need a knife-pic-rock.
Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Same general area but first time using that particular rock. It was a great hike! Chilled out in our hammocks at the summit for a good while.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
Ending summer vacation with a road trip.
Left in a hurry to waste as little time as possible, so my pocket content just carried over from whatever I was doing to come along for the ride.
In pocket (as we left): DF2 wharnie k390 and a SAK Cadet (no surprises here).
Thrown in a bag for food prep and more suitable carry as we put city life behind us: Native 5 salt, spydiechef, pac salt SE, Vic Compact and a LM style PS
In context pictures (hopefully) to come.
