greetings from KL

Post by speedz »

Hello everyone. This is a new addiction for me, and I'm liking it. Been carrying a kershaw chive the last 5 years, but I only stumbled onto Spydie stuff early this year. Haven't gone back since. My first order from SFO was for a persian and native.

The Persian is just a beauty and feels good in my hands. The Native is very lightweight that just disappears in my pocket. One gripe I have about the Native is the pocket clip which is too "soft", for the lack of a better term. It's fallen out of my pocket once and since then, I stopped using the clip.

After that was a Sharpmaker from NGK and an R2 on the way.
I like two things about Spyderco. Great company with excellent customer service and very functional products. Although I must admit, I do not test the limits of my knives-most strenous thing they are subjected to is opening mail :)

My other "addiction" is lights. Here's the Native with Surefire M3

Thanks for reading

Welcome 2 the Slippery Slope of :spyder: Addiction, Speedz! Nice pictures! :spyder: knives and tactical lights are  Looks like you've started with two of The Great Ones: the Native and thePersian...looks like you've got two steel flavors/two edge patterns/two handle materials to "test drive" ...wise selections!
The loose clip on your Native: perhaps you could try just gently bending it for a tighter fit  ; but I honestly prefer the (unstylish) wire clips like on my Native IIII and Dodo...they function better IMO...

I hate to tell you this but after you get your Sharpmaker and the R2 (I'll vote for it for Knife of the Year!) ...forget it....you'll be hooked for life!

Welcome Speedz, two excellent choices there. You might try removing the clip from your Native, "adjusting" it by bending it a bit so that it will press a bit harder against the handle, and replacing it.

hey jaisland,
looks like you've got two steel flavors/two edge patterns/two handle materials to "test drive" ...wise selections!
I think it was more of a fluke on my part :) It was basically an impulse buy on both, although the Native was my first S30V blade and I wanted to see what the hype was.

Hello Speedz

Welcome to the land of the Spyder-nuts ! Nice photos, and nice knives. A few days ago I saw and handled a Persian (big mistake) and of course, I have to have one ! But that is how it goes with Spydercos !

Enjoy your stay here !

Welcome to the forum, looks you already fixed the clip, so any advice I give now is too late.

I'm always late to the party :p

Welcome to the Spyderco Forum. Enjoy your stay here.
I also used to have a Chive, but the spring constantly kept breaking every few hundred openings / closings, so now it seldom gets out of the drawer. :(
I think you'll find spydies more reliable and comfortable. ;)

Man! I'm either the first to welcome new forumites, or (usually) I'm walkin' in when the part is ending.

Anyway -- welcome speedz.

It is always great to welcome a new member to the Forum of the GReat Spyder Factory. My addiction of Spyder blades is so bad that they won't even let me attend the support groups anymore :D . If I don't get me a new Spyder at least once a week I go into terrible withdrawals  . However if I was to get a new VG-10 Zowada C-56 Spyder I think that would tie me over for at least 3 weeks ;) :spyder: You are among friends :)
