To not repeat every awesome suggestion I'll just say, a Worker Salt could be neat. Linerless G10 would be neater, but corrosion proof liners would be fine if the design isn't changed from the last Sprint variant. FRN works as well, but linerless G10 seems to fit in my mind better... perhaps in this sense it could be closer to the original model, in spirit, rather than the sprint run?

I figure H2, but open to arguments to the contrary

i'm disappointed i didn't even think to mention a sage 5 lw. that would make an excellent salt knife.

In the past I would have gone with the Military, Manix XL, Police or Chief.

These days I'd be more interested in a Resilience.

LC200N FFG blade would be an upgrade across the board over 8Cr. Not just corrosion resistance, but edge holding and toughness too.

The design has really grown on me. It's tough going back to a Manix XL or Chief and having that big choil there I hardly use instead of more edge.

I feel the same when I’ve been using my Caribbean for a while at work - everything else feels like the blade is strangely distant until I get used to it again. Do you favour a lock with a close bias?

Absolutely. The light detent is the only reason I don't own (and likely edc) the caribbean.

Such a simple, basic, all around general purpose design. No glamorous, flashy, rakish lines to its design to wax poetic over, but when it comes time to work, it's a git-er-done kinda knife. FFG in MagnaCut would even further or enhance it's all around general purpose functionality. Wouldn't hesitate to purchase such a knife. Already have the S35VN and can attest to its surprising handiness under a multitude of situations and applications.

I adjusted the detent on mine with my Foredom to make it significantly stronger. Worked a treat. Before I did it the blade would often begin to open in my pocket if I had a hard landing from jumping down off of felled tree trunks.

The S35VN LW version is not an option for you?

Should have the same level of corrosion resistance as 8CR or even a tad more and definitely better edge retention.

I still really like my "Lil Resilience", the Tenacious LW in that steel.
Endura-ish edge length in a very compact and at least in my piece perfectly executed package with a very good linerlock and strong detent.
Top three going by pocket-time (update October 25):
- EDC: Endela SE (K390). Endela SE (VG10), Manix 2 LW (REX45)
- Mountains/outdoors: Pac.Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Salt 2 SE (LC200N), Pac.Salt 1 SE (H1)

A friend of mine has just picked one of those up in S35VN (his first Spyderco no less, although I’m sure not his last) and he loves it, especially for the price.

I think something like this would be good. I'd even be okay with yellow.

I would buy that. Especially in YELLow, or any other loud colour that is visible if I drop it in the forest for that matter.

Bow River magnacut. I can't remember the name of the Phil Wilson custom that is longer than the Bow River, that would cool in MC as well.

I’d buy one of those in a heartbeat. The standard one is by far (IMO) one of the best knives Spyderco makes, but also one of the most divisive in appearance.

After carrying the Goddard for a bit, I think that model would make an ideal Salt. Similar size to the pacific 2, but no thumb ramp. It could use a little jimping on the top for wet hands though. But a long, thin blade, and some more security with the larger finger guard.

Hopefully it can get some use gutting fish on my next camping trip.

Leafjumper.
Probably could use jimping added to the thumb ramp for those who use their knife in wet conditions.
