goodbye to my forumite friends

#1

Post by clovisc »

when september begins i'll be moving to rural zambia for 2.5 years to do aquaculture and AIDS work for the peace corps.

i won't have internet or electricity... so sadly, no more spyderco forums for me. :(

before i leave... i just wanted to thank everyone for making the :spyder: forums such a positive place. never have i spent so much time -- or any time, really -- on a forum before. i've learned SO much here from so many different people, and i've made some really great friends. not to mention the fact that the forums have kept me very well entertained during the anxious months i've spent waiting for my assignment to begin. :D

there are a lot of extremely good-hearted, generous, determined, moral, INSPIRATIONAL people here who i'll certainly think of when the going gets rough in africa.

my special thanks go out to a couple extremely generous forumites who sent me some great and unexpected gifts. they are extremely, extremely appreciated, and will be put to use in the months to come. (i'm not sure if you'd want to be named or not, but you know who you are...) :D

sal and eric -- i'm proud to own and use your knives. thanks for so many great designs.

my military, manix, and native will be coming along with me... as well as a pair of salts for the rainy season. in addition to being extremely useful, they'll be some of the very few "comfort items" and reminders of home i'll have. i'll be sure to let you guys know how they withstand 2.5 years of hard use and abuse. :D

thanks again so much. i'll probably be on a couple more times before i leave, to check this thread (...and the others).

Good luck Jason,
You'll be missed around here.

Goodbye at the Forum and welcome to Africa ! I will be only a few hours South, and in the same Time Zone, if memory serves. Enjoy your stay.
