Gayle Bradley 3 Possibility?
Re: Gayle Bradley 3 Possibility?
I bought TWO healthily overpriced GB1 last year … and sold them both. Don’t make me buy one the third time!

Re: Gayle Bradley 3 Possibility?
Roaming the forum to find more about Gayle Bradley collabs, I stumbled on this post. Would love to see a new collab between Spyderco and GB. For me the GB3 should have a Maxamet blade, Ti liners and CF scales. Preferably a hollow grind blade.

I understand the want but hollow ground Maxamet is kinda hard to put on a work knife if it's aimed for end line users of all sortsPaul Ardbeg wrote: ↑Fri Jun 09, 2023 12:16 pmRoaming the forum to find more about Gayle Bradley collabs, I stumbled on this post. M4 might still stay the choice of Gayle Bradley if such a thing were to happen. I'm pretty sure I've ready somewhere that it is not possible, from Sal or someone in the know, but I can't find the exact reply on the forum.

Gayle said he was retiring and would not be designing any more models.

Re: Gayle Bradley 3 Possibility?
I'm all down for a remake of the GB1, in whatever iteration. Just keep the blade and handle geometry the same (especially the handle thickness). It could be lighter and have a (extremely minimal) finger guard, but those traits are not necessary. The existing choil is magical once you actually start to use the knife.
4V would not be a bad steel for this, methinks.

I want an Air 2.
Re: Gayle Bradley 3 Possibility?
Sprint version of the Air would be something special. I would love that.

Re: Gayle Bradley 3 Possibility?
I agree with you in part. The detent was terrible on the Air. It would open in your pocket with just normal movement throughout the day. Fix that minor problem (major if it gets you in the wrong place) and I would love one. I would say GB1 but there really is no way to re-capture the quality that Spyderco put into that knife. Mr. Bradley definitely deserves a Sprint run in his honor regardless.
Do right always. It will give you satisfaction in life.

Micarta and Rex 121 would be a fun sprint.

Re: Gayle Bradley 3 Possibility?
I suppose this means I should finally pony up to buy a GB2.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.
Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

Re: Gayle Bradley 3 Possibility?
At the Amsterdam meet Eric told us about gayle's retirement. The room was a bit shocked since he is such an icon.
But he is training an aprentise ( hope i said that correctly ) so his skills will live on in the future.

Re: Gayle Bradley 3 Possibility?
I used to live about 8 miles from him a decade ago, and drove by his house/workshop on a regular basis. I always thought about stopping by or offering help but never did, what could have been...
I wish him the happiest of years.

Re: Gayle Bradley 3 Possibility?
The GB2 has the best liner lock I've encountered, with the GB1 very close. I've heard a few people complain about it, so maybe I just got lucky with my examples. I love both knives - would be hard-pressed to choose one over the other.Wartstein wrote: ↑Sat Jan 08, 2022 12:07 amIt certainly would be a very nice knife (not that the current GB2 would not be, as far as I know...) - and I am all for promoting mid and high end linerlock Spydercos, here exists an overrepresentation towards the comp.lock imho.
Also I do like long cutting edges in rather compact handles and tool steels, so yes!
Personally I am not into CF though, Micarta would be great, but G10 fine too.
