My 1st Spyderco should be at my door late Monday from St. Nick's. Pretty fast I'd say. Not thrilled at the lockback or yellow scales, but I like the shape and really after it for the Spyderco reputation for good heat treat and in particular Magnacut in the $150 price range. As long as I can open it with my thumb, on-handed I'll be good to go.

Side note on the yellow scales: at least it will be easier for me to see. I usually add a 6 inch blaze flag in the lanyard hole when hiking for fishing.
I agree with you on the yellow scales, not my favorite (although I understand the reason for it) but that is why I'm going to attempt my first Rit Dye project on this knife. Once I get all the supplies I am going to try to get the handles closer to a OD Green color. Seems like a straight forward and easy process so if you ever want to get rid of the yellow scales that is definitely an option you can look into.

It's difficult to predict how yellow will interact with various dyes. I used 'racing red' to get scarlet-colored scales.
The other reds that I tested (scarlet, cherry, wine) were all too dark. Looking at indigo and sapphire to get a green or blue color - anyone try these?

I believe National Knives has both the PE and SE Magnacut for $143, but their site is down again.

I know GPKnives has gotten a couple shipments in and sold. They’ve been posting on IG when they get them in stock. That’s how I snagged mine.

I’ve got some sapphire rit on standby at the moment. Plan is to dye it over the holiday weekend and I’m hoping for maybe a nice sea green. However it turns out it can’t be as bad as this blinding yellow. I’ll do my best to remember to post results.

Ancient, please do. I hope to dye mine this extended weekend also but can't decide what direction to go. I have enough blue N5 lightweights. And I'm not an OD green person.

I look forward to seeing the results. If it works like the 'racing red' did, you should see more and more blue as the scales linger in the dye, but there is a 'sweet spot' before they get too dark (I went a touch too far with mine). I will try indigo at some point, and we can compare results.

Keep that hex side of the pivot pin in mind when you are putting it back together - in his video Nick Shabbaz did not remove the pin, so it was a 'snap' to get the blade back in. My experience required a loup, a lot of nervous sweating and I think possibly a shot of Scotch. I am about to take apart a CruCarta for scale dying, which will absolutely be worse :hot-face

My Magnacut native 5 is out for delivery. I have the “Kentucky sky?” Blue RIT dye-more on standby. I’ll definitely post a picture of the final product once I get to dyeing it

I intend to leave my Magnacut N5 as-is in yellow but tried my hand at dying these two, one in blue, the other in racing red. They look better in person, this photo is a little washed out. Just posting because both colors were mentioned.

I think this captures the actual color better:

I got mine a couple weeks ago from GPKnives.com but they're currently out of stock. Looks like Nationalknives.com is out as well. Sorry

Would you please pm me too? An EU retailer would also work if anyone knows of one who has it.

I actually like the yellow. I was thinking of dying it but I’ll keep it yellow. Sure it’s bright in the pocket but I can always put a deeper clip on it or just place it deep in the pocket. These USA backlocks are super strong, no fear of it opening.

I like the Native 5 Salt yellow way way more than the Seki Salt yellow. I really haven't decided if I'm going to dye it green yet or not.
