So I bought this to be a good camping knife I wouldn't have to worry too much about. I like that it has a can opener and basic screwdriver, but especially cool is the bottle opener with the spidy hole. I don't carry keys, or a lighter, so I don't want to carry around a seperate bottle opener. I kinda wish spiderco had a higher end version of this knife with something other than a liner lock.
The lockup on this knife is pretty bad, and the more I learn about knives I probably never should returned it out of the gate. The liner pops completly over to the right of the tang but there there is still some front to back wobble (as well as some minor side to side play). The end resut is that I end up not using this knife, as even my cheaper knifes have better lockup.
I am wondering if they are all made like this (cheap chinese junk), or if mine should go in for warranty?
Thanks!

Re: Clipitool Standard Warranty Question
Sorry, I wasn't trying to slam spiderco, my other spydercos are made in USA orJapan and have been great knives. This one is made in China, and I was just wondering if it is worth trying to warranty it or if they are all just a bit sloppy with lockup (specifically the Clipitool standard). What I mean is that the liner lock snaps all the way over, but there is still a bit of play. The knife is still technially locked, but there is some front to back play since the lock bar does not keep tension on the blade. I do have other liner locks where this is not an issue.
I don't want to dump more money into it if it will just get sent back.

Re: Clipitool Standard Warranty Question
So I sent it in for warranty and spyderco did replace it. However they stated that the knife had been worn out or abused and would typically have not been covered under warranty, but this one time they would replace it.
This knife has only seen light use, just a couple vacations / campouts where I wanted to bring a bottle / can opener. I certainly didn't abuse it as it I generally carry a PM2 which saw ALLOT more actual use, but that one is too nice to stuff in my luggage and hope TSA doesn't steal it. I don't think I had ever even sharpened this one... The blade had always had some play which made me gravitate to other knives as it felt flimsy.
I don't know what kind of abuse would wear out a liner lock, but I now have reservations on the Spyderco's warranty on my more expensive knives. I just don't like being told I abused something or wore it out, when I most certainly did not. I have to question what indicators there were for abuse, as there was basically no cosmetic damage to it, just a loose blade. It does not leave a good taste in my mouth, although I am still greatful that they replaced it, (the taste would be worse had they told me that and not replaced it). I will have to remember this when making future purchases, or I guess just assume that warraty is a total gamble.
I was 1/2 expecting it to come back ss "within spec" (it's my only china made spyderco so I thought maybe they are just junk).
The blade did have blade wiggle in both directions, but didn't expect to hear that I had abused it!
On the new one the liner lock goes to about the middle of the tang, rather than all the way to the end like the original, lockup is tight and also no side/side play.
