A little about yourself
OK - I've done it before but let's go again. Im 55 years old I'm a member of the Royal Netherlands Airforce. I'm a Senior Chief Mater Sergeant and I have joined the RNAF 36 years ago. Don't know an other business - well I'm not quitte frank here- but the military has provided me a with very comfortable living. Been stationed for a 3 year posting in Wichita Falls, Texas and Tucson, Arizona where I was involved with Pilot training. I am part of a twin and my brother Martien is my best buddy!. Been married to my lovely wife Gaby who is from German origin for 29 years. We met during my 17 year posting in Germany.
Got in touch with Sal during my stay inTexas over 15 years ago and a friendship develloped. Today I am in what I call "overtime" I should have retired in early july but I refused to do so. Extended for an other year and will now retire in July 2006. It looks as if my ties to Spyderco will even get closer by then!
Gaby and I live a fortunate life, filled with work, life, laughter, travel, fine food and wine and good times. Has not always been this way. Now our two West Highland Terriers, Jester & Duchess fulfill our parenting needs and keep us on our toes. Music wise the spectrum is as wide as it can get with the emphasis on Rock, Blues and alt C&W. Also the odd jazz, classical, folk, contemporary adult and oldie tracks pass by when Gaby & I cellebrate our music nights. Oh yeah, when ever Ted comes along, we tend to solve our problems with a couple of Grappa's and congnac's, just to not let it turn sour in the bottle.....LOL
So far, so good!

Hi all
I am a 60 year old (just) owner of an auto service station. i am married (33 years) and have two daughters : one is in advertising in London, and the other is a teacher in Tokyo. But she is moving to Portland, Oregon in a few weeks time.
I am in the process of selling the building and property to make way for an apartment block. About two years ago I suffered a stroke, which has left my entire left side in a super-sensitive state. This is a Thalamic Stroke, or to be precise, Degerine-Roussy Syndrome. But at least I can walk, talk, drive a car etc. It could have been worse : I could be blind, in a wheelchair etc, but thankfully I am not.
Sadly though, I can no longer ride my bike, a BMW K1200RS. But I still have it in working order.....just in case of a miracle !! I have been riding bikes since 1965 and I really miss a nice ride with my missus on the back.
Thus I now, amongst other things, collect knives, mainly Spyderco, of which I have about 35. In fact I feel like a traitor when I buy another make. Recently I bought a CS Recon Tanto fixed blade from NGK. I only wish Spyderco would make something like this...a nice big scary bugger ! I do have the :spyder: Lum tanto fixed, and a Lum tanto folder is on the way.
Other hobbies are RC model aircraft, computers and photography. I have a Canon 350 D (XT in the States). I am in the (slow) process of setting up a light tent to photograph knives and other small and interesting things.
Thanks for reading this !
Cheers
Mike

I'm a Nissan Technician and I just graduated from my tech school. I had a job in Las Vegas, but I left because I didn't know anyone outside of work and the town was starting to piss me off. I moved back to Oklahoma where my family, friends, DSL connection, and FISHING are. My hobbies are multiplayer first person shooters, skeet shooting, target shooting, fishing, and some reading. I like metal and classic rock. I'm 21. The reason I'm graduating a 2 year tech school at 21 is because I tried joining the USMC. I spent 6 months at MCRD San Diego. I broke my leg 1 and a half months into training and spent the rest of the time trying to heal. They let me go and I'm kinda glad they did but I also regret it because I didn't finish something I started. I didn't even get to shoot the M16A2.....
Oh yeah: I have only 1 Spyderco military. I had a delica but the river took it from me. I have 4 more on the way though. 2 crickets, an endura (I think of it as the delica took a summer vacation and came back all grown up), and a spydercard.....
The rifles:
Yugo SKS with the grenade launcher, night sights, bayonet, etc... great rifle for $135.
New England Handi Rifle .223... thing shoots better than I can.
Winchester Lever Actiong .22LR
Next will be an 870 Remington....

36yrs. old, Corrections Officer. Got nicknamed "Daywalker" by some inmates and when my daughter saw BladeII, she said, "Dad, that guy fights like *you*!" LOL!, So it stuck. Won Top Gun Award during CO Training, and used to compete naturally in bodybuilding. Blessed with a beautiful wife and daughter, a son who lives off Island. Still learning to play the electric guitar, love techno, industrial, and metal music...love also stuff from the 80's! Used to do a lot of night time freedives, love losing sleep over a good Marx Brother's movie. Star Wars fanatic, big time. Oddly enough, i got "back into" knives while I was designing parts for shotguns! Love firearms and knives of course...Currently extremely proud of my KnifeBro Dialex for making the Forum Knife! Wonder about my other bro, Ceya... I also currently design knives...well, at least some people think so. :o
Share a strong relationship with Christ, and try to apply my signature on a daily basis. Like to train with weapons and empty hand...some of my very best friends can be found here on the Forum.

Samo, I removed the rubber "pistol grips" as I did not have any use for it. Come to think, I haven't had much use for the M3 with its 225 lumens installed! The light I use most is my E1 with KL1 led module. And a Photon 3 on my keyring.

I appreciate knives for the same reason I do for watches. The attention to detail, great balance between form and function and the high level of craftsmanship.

I'm turning 39 next month. I have been a flexographic printer for 14 years until the factory had to close last year(I'm still out of a job) I've been divorced for 5 years. I have a son of 9 whom I see one weekend every 3 weeks and half of his vacations. He is the most important person in my life (of all my spyders he still likes my SS Police/PE the most) I have a girlfriend who has 3 kids of her own. I don't actually live with her but I'm more at her's than at my own house.
I've been interested in knives since I was a kid but I really started collecting knives about a year ago. I have 8 CRKT's 2 Fox 2 Coldsteel and 30 Spyders.
Besides collecting knives I don't have any real hobbies at the moment.
I just like taking it easy, drink beer(way to much) and annoying you all with boring questions on this forum(LOL)
I don't have any pictures. First, I still don't know how to do it and second I'm not pretty to look at(should cut down on the beer)

Very close to my own story.Jimmy_Dean wrote:21 year old kid. Was raised in the country, moved to Montreal for school a few years ago. I live on my own in my apartment so life is sometimes lonely and often tough. I'm a film student, wanting to be a critic, teacher or something of that nature. My mom is a teacher so I think I've always been into that branch, and teaching/discussing film theory is the best.
My two passions in life are movies and knives. I'm a tireless knife collector, and I like to try and play with as many things as I can. On a good day, I can also watch 3 or 4 movies. I like montage, scores and good acting in particular. Big Brando fan...and James Dean too of course.
No girlfriend at the moment, no kids that I know of(kidding, no kids for sure!), no pets although I have a thing for Dobermans. Musically I like the extremes in particular (classic and heavy metal, go figure!) but also love Elvis, Ray Charles, the Beatles, AC/DC and stuff like that.
Don't go out in bars too much. Takes me a while to get comfortable with people but the few that I bond with enjoy my strange sense of humor and way of dealing with stuff.
nice thread

I am 21, but turning 22 later this month. I love film very much and would love to be in the film industry when I grow up (I love saying that...when I grow up). Even if I fail in the industry I'd be more than happy to teach either film technique, or a genre or just interpretation of film at a college.
I think one of my favorite film eras would be the French New Wave. I really wish I was fluent in French just so I could watch the movies with better flow. I recently found a stray cat, which I named Godard, after Mr. Jean-Luc Godard, the man!
I have a girlfriend I've been with for over 2 1/2 years now. She goes to UIC and is into creative writing. Aside from the cat I also have two dogs that do not live with me

I am not huge on knife collecting, but I love my :spyder: . Have a few users, but always in the search for my "perfect" knife, which we all know will never ever ever happen. I want that knife that beats all knives, that I can buy like 10 of, and be done with knives. The knife that makes all others obsolete.
My other passion from independent film is definitely music, also of the indie variety. I tend to listen to indie rock and idm. It is hard to narrow down specific bands and tracks because of how much music I listen to in any given day. It is hard to get attached and obsessed to a musician like I did when I was fourteen because I have piles of unlistened to music. The only group I have a strong affinity to for the moment is Phil Elverum who records under the monikers Microphones and Mt. Eerie.
I do not go to bars much either myself, but I will go down to the pub fro one of two reasons. A) live music (some bands like to come to the local pub because they are not run by Ticketmaster) B) Soccer matches!
I love my football, the Euro kind. I tend to be against the bar scene as I tend to find it disgusting, but I will drag myself out of the apartment if that means watching my team score some goals! I love the Chicago Fire as well as countless other teams around the globe. I've always been tempted to ask others about liking soccer since we have a decent amount of Non-USA forumites. Quite a few Dutch guys, which is awesome because they've been one of my favorite National Teams out there with the Iceman Bergkamp! Also one of my Fire players (Beasley) was traded to the Netherlands to play on the powerhouse PSV Eindhoven.
I could talk about Film, Music, and Soccer for hours and hours while flicking my spyderco open and closed.
ASA NISI MASA
I'm not Batman...

I'm a 32 year old follower of Christ.
I am a father, a husband, a brother, a son, and a friend.
I'm a network analyst by day. I'm multi-certified in Microsoft and have my MCSE. I'm also certified in Linux.
At home I spend time with my family and I like to read and work with wood. I whittle and also make custom scales for Victorinox SAK's out of black walnut, oak, and other wood. I'm quite knowledgable about cars, engines, etc. I love drag racing. I often take trips with my father around the country as he races an alcohol powered Corvette with a 327 CI Smallblock. The car runs 9.40s @ 147MPH in the quarter with a single 4 barrel carb and no computer or nitrous.
I just really like knives and daily I grow more attached to my Spyderco's.
This is a great place with great people. I'm glad to be a part of it.

I'm 23 (though most say I look older) and I currently work in assets protection with Target. It's a fun job, even if the pay isn't great. I currently have a degree in Criminal Justice from Virginia Commonwealth University, and I'm still trying to figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life (if anyone has suggestions, feel free to let me know). Currently single, with no prospects, which for once in my life doesn't bother me.
I'm more of a user than a collector these days. With a couple of exceptions, I won't buy a knife that I don't plan on using. I've had an interest in making knives for a few years now, but as of yet don't have the means of doing it yet. I'm also a music lover, though my tastes seem to change with the month. Right now I'm trying to get into soul (James Brown fan). I'm also an avid reader. Once I get into a book, it usually only takes me a couple days to finish. It's both a blessing and a curse. I'm also a gamer, though all of my gaming is confined to consoles. I'm not much of a bar person and can't stand the clubs. You're more likely to find me in a bookstore or down at the river.
Here's a pic of me. My best friend told me I look a little less nuts, and a bit more crazy in this one.
