Good new, Bad news (Manix 2 lost, now found)
First the good news. I found my lost Manix 2 !! This is red G10 with CPM-20CV steel. It is one of my regular carry knives because I figure the bright red color will make it harder to set down and walk away from. It vanished last week just after a hike and I was convinced it had fallen out of my pocket (the one whereto it was clipped). I have been mourning over it every day, looking in all the likely places, scratching my head. It just popped up outside my house where I set it down while using it to strip insulation off of a cord. So now I am celebrating.
I was going to write a long post about how perhaps clipping knives to pockets isn't the best thing, especially while hiking. I did lose one knife this way in years past and if this had been the second, well that would need to stop. But I am reflecting on the wisdom of just dropping the knife into my pocket rather than clipping it, handy though that is.
The bad news is frustration over not being able to pick up one of these 15V sprint run Manix knives. I was going to leverage myself into buying one from an Ebay scalper in order to sooth myself for the loss of "old red", but now that strategy for self deception has lost all of its steam -- though I am happy to see an old friend returned.

Re: Good new, Bad news (Manix 2 lost, now found)
Glad you found your old Manix. It’s such a relief to find something you thought was lost for good- especially something like your dealer exclusive that would be hard to replace.
A few years ago, I was the proud owner of my first Spyderco- a Delica. At the time, it was the most expensive knife I’d ever bought (funny how that changes with time). I was helping stock the warehouse with cardboard bundles and lost the knife. Fortunately, I noticed quickly. It’s pocket clip had hitched a ride on one of the straps used to keep the cardboard bundled together. It can be as exciting to find a knife you lost as it was to open it when it was new.

Yes. You really appreciate something when you think it is gone (or when it actually is).
So all those days of fretting over it and looking for it set you up to feel great when you find it.
I have heard a number of stories about pocket clips and straps (often seat belts). I was looking under seats and in packs.

I lost a prybar this week and have been similarly mourning. Glad you found Old Red, Tom. Hope you can get yourself a 15V Manix anyway.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Glad you found your Manix, on another note I just bought a 15v Manix from a gun store near me. It might be worth checking a couple gun shops just in case they sell spydercos

I'm glad to see you found your knife. Losing one is a real downer, but finding it again is a real cause for celebration.

Awesome that you found it again, and I wouldn't give up hope on finding a 15V one. Keep your eyes out for the 15V alert thread, there are bound to be more trickling into various dealers.

Don’t pay the scalper tax, Tom! If you don’t find one, I can let go of one of mine once the second one I ordered arrives. I also have a backorder at OpticsPlanet, so I might end up with 3.Tucson Tom wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 1:45 pmFirst the good news. I found my lost Manix 2 !! This is red G10 with CPM-20CV steel. Now that you mention it....I haven't seen my 20CV/Red G10 Manix 2 for awhile. Guess I better take a look around

That feeling of sheer panic when losing a knife is terrible. Glad you found your knife!

Re: Good new, Bad news (Manix 2 lost, now found)
I try to keep myself from doing things like this, and particularly with knives that have clips and are completely functional with one hand I will normally put the knife back in my pocket between uses. (Many years ago I was carrying another brand that starts with a B, I took it out at a cookout to cut open a package and set it on the picnic table. I looked around in a minute and didn't see it, turns out my uncle had picked it up and used it to scrape the inside of a cast iron pot. I wasn't very good at sharpening back then and it took me a long time to get that knife sharp again.)Tucson Tom wrote: ↑Thu Dec 22, 2022 1:45 pmwhere I set it down while using it to strip insulation off of a cord.
It's certainly valid to own a backup knife. My favorite for working around the house is a LW Manix2 in Rex45, and I do have a backup copy of it. The Manix2 is one of the few knives I own that I am good at using one-handed to the point where I would be confident using it in the dark.

I recently lost my Chris Reeve Inkosi. I was really bummed out but luckily I found it a couple of days later.

I still have a Winkler Woodsman lost somewhere in my house. At least I hope it is somewhere in my house as the alternative is even worse.
