Yours is not the only magnetic blade. I’ve noticed that several, if not most of my Golden Spydercos are slightly magnetic. I don’t know if any of my foreign-made ones are or are not.IndianaTony wrote: ↑Tue Dec 20, 2022 1:53 amHere’s something odd I just noticed…my knife is slightly magnetic. I wonder if some of the grinders are aligned North/South at the shop and pickup a magnetic field because of it.
Mine isn't magnetic. Got lot 7 - 22 A on the hidden tang stamp if anyone wants to compare

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
Any advice on the best way to sharpen this with a Wicked Edge system?
Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
Patiently. Well, if you're going to reprofile anyways. For reference I just reprofiled a Maxamet Manix from 18 to 13dps. It took several days working for an hour or two each day. Probably 10hours total. Good lighting and a jewlers loupe can help confirm you are properly apexing.
It's tempting to press hard with the stones, don't. You'll wear them out.
I usually try to clamp near the handle on the flat part. And use the 'bug' as a reference for leveling (I clamp it so both bug legs are level with the clamp, makes it very repeatable). I have the point facing me, I think this reduces rounding of the tip in reprofiling (I have the point facing away for normal sharpening). Then I 'scrub' up and down one side for a bit, then the other side for a bit, trying to keep the bevels even. If the factory grind is lopsided (usually is) I focus on the side with the smaller bevel, as this will bring the apex more to the center and even out the bevels.
Once I've apexed on both sides and it is centered to my liking, I turn the WE around (I dont unclamp, I just rotate the base of the WE on my desk) then I sharpen with normal heel tip strokes through my grit progression. Then lightly strop to straighten everything out and remove any stray burr I missed.

Thank you for your informative post. I find your technique regarding the tip very helpful. Any thoughts on what grit I should take 15V to? I'm looking for a balance between optimal "stickiness" and sharpness.

I am going to try to keep mine around 17dps for EDC. Going less I would worry about chipping (depending on your use case) going more I think you would lose some sharpness and edge retention.T.J. wrote: ↑Tue Dec 20, 2022 12:15 pmZrowsN1s wrote: ↑Tue Dec 20, 2022 11:37 amPatiently. But there is no correct angle it’s what works for you. Stick with the factory edge for a bit, if that DPS is lacking, they take the time to reprofile (if you have the equipment) to your needs.
Good luck.

I like mirror polishes myself, but I've seen people with 400 grit edges that were sticky enough to grab hairs and with lots of aggression. Really a personal preference thing. 800 is a nice middle ground.

Bunch of people need to stfu over there! Honestly, not a single person cares how close they were to getting one. If you did, good for you! Talk about it here...not there.
If people want to continue to be disrespectful about the thread, especially those intentionally doing so...I'd just stop with the alerts all together if I were Beau. Let them fend for themselves at this point. He's trying to do everyone a favor!! I can't wrap my head around it.

Re: CPM 15v Manix 2
I think the blade steel is pretty much the only selling point? There's a boatload of ball bearing lock Manix 2's already out there, even in this same exact bland color scheme. The stonewashing seems pretty mild and almost not noticeable. So the blade steel is the only practical difference.
Not saying it's not enough to garner interest, surely we can see it is enough, and I as well am curious to compare it to some of my current favorite steels. I can appreciate the work that has gone into it by all involved parties, and am interested in seeing the results first hand, since I already highly value other steels of similar composition.
But to me the difference from this steel to say the excellent 10V/K390 options we already have isn't worth it at secondary prices, especially since there doesn't even exist a 10V/K390 Manix 2 to be able to compare apples to apples. So hopefully I'll score one at the $158 or whatever, which I think is a good value price point. If not then I'll probably still manage to sleep at night just fine.
