I heard from two retailers that they got initial shipments of five knives (now sold) but expect to get a “main batch” in due course. Not exactly sure how large a “main batch” will be…

So, there is hope!

Sold out faster than I could get my cart to load. I haven’t heard of a lot of these retailers. Have they yet to hit the big stores or are those just selling out before we hear about it on the forum?

Can't say what's happening with these specific stores, but I've heard in the past of stores posting "in stock" when they're told that some are inbound to them, before they actually receive stock. That might be one reason why many of the larger retailers have yet to post.

I’m generally avoiding buying from retailers that I have not bought from before as well. I passed on the “5 more” on grommit’s that were posted a while ago.

The fact it isn't sold out yet tells me the same thing may be going on. They should only have 5 in stock.

Just clocked this on Böker.de - expected on or around the 20th of January. The price is steep but if you’re in Europe the shipping may offset that.

There are shops in EU offering pre-order for under 200€ - that is not bad of a price at all. But the expected delivery appears to be indeed by the end of January.

That's not bad at all. Considering that if you buy from the US and get it shipped to Europe it's going to be about the same. And if they hit you with customs and VAT charges it will be even more expensive. By the way, can you DM me where they actually accept pre orders? Because the ones I know don't do pre orders at all.
