Bought a CZ 457 Varmint in .22 LR.
I keep hearing these are very nice 22 rifles.
We shall see how she does against my 1968 Remington Matchmaster.
The 457 should be nice rifle for you. I have a nice 452 American that I now use for my back up gun for ARA factory class matches. My primary rifle is a Tikka T1X and it's been kicking CZ butt all year :winking-tongue

I'll post a pic of my 1946 513T (what I think you're calling a Matchmaster) when I get few extra minutes. I was well worn when I bought it off our used rack years ago. I refinished the stock and bead blasted all the metal. My brother re-blued it for me and did a nice trigger job on it. I make single shot adapters for it if you're ever interested. I make them for the CZs too (452, 455, 457).

I use one with a .380 S&W bodyguard for when I'm out in gym shorts. Adequate job at retention and keeps you armed...

Yeah, if I want a center fire, I'll get a Tikka - I actually want one pretty bad
But, the 513 T is the Remington Matchmaster
Gotta say though, that Remington 513 T Matchmaster (1968) is one of if not the finest trigger I've ever pulled. But, my dad did buy it new in 1968 - actually he ordered it. & won many a matches with it too.
And, thank you for the offer!
& I'm really gonna look into the Tikka T1X!
I wish I had thought of that earlier to be honest but, like you say, this CZ should be fine.

You don't usually hear many nice comments about the 513T trigger. They're not very adjustable and have a fairly heavy pull. I'm fortunate to have a very good gunsmith in the family who did a fantastic trigger job on mine. Well...fantastic considering it's an entry-level target rifle. Mine's set at about 1.5# which is light for a 513T

Here's a shot of mine. The other side od the stock is nice too. This pic doesn't really do it justice

If yours was actually made in '68 (check the date code on barrel) it should have a grooved receiver which is desirable. 1968 is also when the 513T was officially discontinued and only a handful were sold to dealers in '69

You know, it could very well be that my dad had done the trigger himself. It's set about 1 pound.
That doesn't sound like a factory setting, I reckon?
I apologize, I just thought these older Remmys had excellent triggers, lol.
The more I think about it, the more it makes sense that he did the trigger job. His PPC gun (smith model 19) - he tuned it. And come to think of it, helll I never even knew he had the thing until about a few months before he passed away.
Yeah, after he got out of the PPC matches in about 84 I think, he never shot much. I was suprised to learn that he had that giant 22 rifle lol
Btw, yours is beautiful!
Ill.get back to ya on the exact year model - my little.brother has it right now. He's letting his son shoot it a little. I'll try and get a pic of it today.
Seriously, yours is absolutely gorgeous!

Back in 1961, I attended Marion Military Institute in the 9th grade
and was a member of the junior varsity rifle team.
We had match rifles like that, weighed about 9 pounds.
In prone position I did okay but as a small 14 year-old
it was overwhelming for me in the standing position.

Hundreds and hundreds of rounds in daily practice
but never good enough to compete in an actual match
and did not letter.

Great bunch of guys.
One varsity shooter would smoke half a cigarette
before a match to calm himself.
Other than that, he never smoked.
He said he would shoot between heartbeats.

I've shot all kinds of matches with 22 LR rifles including in a 4P club league, CMP Rimfire Sporter (3P), smallbore silhouette, NRL22, PRS, and now ARA (benchrest). I even smoked during some of that time. There's times when you can feel your heartbeat but that's not really a good thing. I've heard the whole shooting between beats thing and I think it's just BS. Shooting between breaths I can understand but if you can feel your heartbeat you need to work on some stuff lol

Hey SharpGuy, what scope do you use on your Tikka T1X?
When I was using my T1x for PRS (long range out to 350 yds) I had a Athlon Helos BTR 6-24X on it. Ok scope for the money. Settings/Turrets are repeatable but the glass isn't the best. Worked fine for me though.

Now that I'm using the T1x for ARA I'm using a Bushnell Elite 4500 8-32X that a friend gave me. It's actually a very nice scope. Most of my other rifles have Weaver Classic 6-24X and one has a 4-16X with FCD reticle.

A couple years ago some people were recommending these Vortex Diamondback HPs as one of the best bang for the buck deals ever. The HP model is supposed to have upgraded glass etc. So I bought one. I finally mounted to a Bergara BMR I just got and it's actually a nice a little scope. For $200 I'm really tempted to buy another. I searched back on Rimfire Central and apparently Midway's been offering this scope as a one time deal for quite awhile now. People keep saying hurry get one while you can. Then they run out of stock but Midway lists them again after a few months. So I don't know what the deal is with them. They're definitely new in box and not refurbs or anything.

I think I'll only shoot one more match (near Waco, TX) with the Tikka and then I'll be done until next year. I'm currently ranked 2nd in Texas (out of 100+ shooters) and 22nd nationally (out of 768). I'd be ranked higher Nationally if some of these other clubs had to shoot in the same conditions we do in TX. Doesn't really matter to me anyway. It's all fun

Thanks for the tip. I just ordered a Diamondback
to top off my 6.5CM budget build Ruger American Predator.
I have yet to shoot it. The Crossfire II will be moved to another rifle.

Kidd 10/22

I bought this one by piece

A friend offered me a deal on the Kidd 10/22 receiver, trigger, bolt etc. I added a Kidd 20" match barrel, KRG Bravo stock, Arken SH-4 scope, Burris Signature XTR rings, and my Atlas bipod. I haven't shot it yet but it should be a great shooter for a semi-auto
