Thanks, APC. I didn't see that holster on the site, but saw some really cool looking other ones. I sent an email asking about one for the Gunting.
Finally found Vess's site, (http://www.vessleatherworks.com/) I think I'll inquire about the horiz/vert holster. IWB looked good too.

Congratulations on your fine tool ;) With a proper sheath it's quite comfortable to carry.
Since the Gunting is disconnected, I suspect those things will become more and more difficult to find. Too bad the Tusok didn't make it :( :( :(

I've seen a couple of holsters for Guntings online, but figured I'd check with the knowledge base here first.

Hey there smcfalls13!

Man that kinetic kool aid I drank in full tonight. I even chanced a few draw and present ala Emerson style! A bit more insane was that since I was working the exterior grounds tonight, I wore it IWB on my perimeter checks. THAT method of carry...I still gotta get used to! :o

Hmmm, Mike Sastre makes rigs for the Gunting? Thanks for the heads up APC, and welcome aboard!

God bless

You read my mind daywalker, I was trying the same thing early this morning. Kinetic kool aid for breakfast, gotta love it. I'm gonna injure myself one of these times, if I don't learn what I'm doing ;)

Thanks guys for the holster possibilities, I'll check them out.

Gunting Sheaths

#25

Post by Hannibal Lecter »

Good day, all.

This is the one you want:

http://www.survivalsheath.com/flash.htm

I am carrying my Gunting in a belt sheath from this site as I type this.

By the way, Simona recommended this particular sheath; I am hardly in a position to argue such with the Gunting Girl herself... :D

Hannibal, could you post a pic of your Gunting in the holster from http://www.survivalsheath.com/flash.htm ? It would be much appreciated.
If you have done this before, please forgive me, but my eyes are still bleeding from searching through old posts about the Gunting.
Thank you,

The man in the brown truck just delivered my Gunting about 10 minutes ago. Fantastic knife! :D

Thank you very much Dr. Lecter, that is exactly the kind of holster I was looking for. I'd seen it before in an older thread, but couldn't for the life of me find it again, and I couldn't remember the link.

Your assistance as usual, is greatly appreciated.

And from reading older threads, I can tell that Simona would definitely be considered the resident expert on the Gunting. If both you and she recommend that holster, it must be good.

Thanks again.

Ok, I'm sold, I have got to get one of those. Thats far and away superior to the standard kydex holsters I've been finding. Those look perfect functional, yet still aesthetically pleasing.

You all are awesome. Thank you Dr. Lecter and Simona for the excellent pics. I've already ordered one. I can't wait til my credit card company calls and asks me what I've been doing? ;)

Problem is my Gunting is lonely, it needs another Gunting friend.

And the search continues...

Survival Sheath and River City Sheaths both make excellent Gunting holsters. I will ONLY carry the Gunting using a sheath/holster.
Civilians, Dodo, Guntings, Mili, P'kal, Rescues, Ronins, Temperance, others...

Thank you! That looks like a good solid retention holster, is it? Perfect for me would be a holster that is "hard" to get the gunting out of, unless you "know" the exact direction to draw. Does this sort of ring any bells?
Anyway, lots of thanks for the pic :D

I should have scrolled to the next page :o Thanks Simona! I'm torn now, but not as badly as I might be with no holster  .
This could get really expensive: Live Gunting, trainer, videos, several holsters, possibly a trip to the ER (but hopfully not).
I'm just glad this is the season(s) for my work :spyder:

Aloha ALL,

Oh man, those are some cool rigs!!! May have to look into getting one of those...

Anyway, I carried my C68 today...ALL day, as I was off from work. Wore it clipped in right front pocket in a pair of BDU's. (Had my Persian in back pocket :p ) Did a buncha errands, some light yard work, dropped off some forms at ****, and you know what? I didn't even notice the Gunting there? :) Even better, no one else noticed it either! Maybe I wasn't fair to it when I first got it and was overly critical on it being a "pocket flopper"...still a bit hesitant on IWB carry though :o

Here's the ride & some 3M grip tape added on my clip today. Makes a BIG diff when drawing...be advised though, it will impair manipulation somewhat.

God bless and mahalo *much* Hannibal

Daywalker,

After seeing your pictures I might try to EDC my gunting again. Lately all I'm wearing are baggy jogging pants ( Can't find comfortable jeans anymore) I noticed that carrying knives in baggy pants don't show as much as jeans.

Nice pics BTW.

Daywalker, that grip tape doesn't sound(or look) like a bad idea. I don't really flip my knives around much anyway, and that would add some nice grip on the clip, because when my hands get sweaty they slip like crazy on the steel.

And if I'm lucky, by Friday my Gunting should have a brother ;) Unless something goes wrong (please don't go wrong)

I'll have to post pics then.

Love those Gunting stories. I am with Daywalker on this one, I EDC mine in rotation with other spydies RF pocket, either Jeans or BDU's. I've never had a problem with drawing or blade opening.
